POSITION SUMMARY

The Electrical Estimating Intern will assist the Estimating Department with assigned projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties will likely be assigned.

Assist in gathering, calculating and compiling data for use in bid proposal estimates. Quantities take-off and enter into computer estimating system. Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes. Review quotes with supervisor for completeness and conformance with plans and specs. Participate in developing project update and bid package estimate documents. Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products. Maintain files of working documents for back-up to estimating figures. Ensure documents are centrally saved in the project’s chosen document control software. Assist in the monitoring of conceptual estimates with actual cost data. Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work. Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. Review contract and bid documents; review and understand scope for project turnover Attend pre-bid and scope clarification meetings Quantitative take-off and computer entry Prepare scope letters and proposals Review quotes obtained from subcontractors for accurate scope of work as per plans and specs. Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established. Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Electrical Engineering Degree or similar from an accredited College or University completed or in progress, OR equivalent experience.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel) Familiarity with AutoCAD, and other, technical, or construction programs preferred. Familiarity with project management/document control software preferred.
