Job Overview: Fountain Electric is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Electrical Estimator Intern to join our Estimating Department. This department is responsible for preparing project bids, analyzing construction drawings, and calculating material and labor costs for electrical installations. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the bidding process, assisting estimators in interpreting construction documents, and contributing to the preparation of competitive project bids. Bid Preparation: + Assist in the preparation of project bids by collecting and organizing necessary data and documentation. + Support the estimating team in developing accurate and competitive project estimates. Interpretation of Construction Drawings: + Review and interpret construction drawings, electrical layouts, and specifications to identify material and labor requirements. + Highlight discrepancies or potential issues in the drawings for the estimator’s review. Takeoff Process: + Perform quantity takeoffs using manual and software-based methods to calculate material and labor needs. + Ensure takeoff quantities align with project specifications and scope. Qualifications: + Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Business, or a related field. + Skills: Basic understanding of electrical systems and construction processes is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Attention to detail. Effective communication and organizational skills. + Experience: Previous coursework or experience in estimating, construction, or electrical work is preferred but not required. Other: Eagerness to learn and contribute to the estimating process in a practical setting. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
