About the role

The Electrical Field Services Specialist will be part of the Plant Support Engineering group. The team’s roll is electrical support for the plant power distribution system. This includes switchyard equipment, generators, MV switchgear, and low voltage switchgear. The successful candidate will assist with budgets, planned outages, unplanned outages, and troubleshooting for all electrical aspects of our waste-to-energy facilities. A major role of this team is to ensure all work is completed safely and the LOTO for each job is correct.

Additionally, this team supports the corporate design engineering group as needed. Estimated travel requirements are

three (3) weeks per month.

General job responsibility breakdown (subject to some change based upon candidate skillset):

· Electrical safety and LOTO 10%

· Basic knowledge of electrical theory, knowledge, and troubleshooting. 20%

· Supervise NETA switchgear, breaker and transformer testing. 20%

· Protective relay installation, testing, and troubleshooting. 5%

· Troubleshoot generator issues and supervise generator testing and repairs. 10%

· Planned and unplanned electrical outage support. 20%

· Administration: Budgets, test reports, etc. 15%

REQUIREMENTS (Education, Skills, Certificate, Licenses, Experience)

Experience:

Ideal candidates will have experience working in an industrial environment, ideally a power generation site, papermill, or

other site with onsite generation, substation, MV switchgear, and LV switchgear. General experience needed:

· Basic desktop software use.

· Formal electrical training.

· Electrical system/component installation.

· Electrical system/component troubleshooting.

· NETA testing of switchgear and transformers.

· Transformer dissolved gas analysis (DGA) sampling/analysis.

· Generator testing.

· Relay testing.

· Site electrical safety and LOTO.

· Troubleshooting of AC and DC electrical systems.

· Safety training.

· Commissioning and startup.

Qualifications:

· Basic knowledge of electrical theory, knowledge, and troubleshooting.

· Formal electrical training.

· Experienced troubleshooting AC and DC systems.

· Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with minimal direction.

· Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.

· Experience working with equipment form 480 volts to 230kV.

· NETA switchgear and transformer testing experience.

· Protective relay testing.

· Generator testing and operation.

· Knowledge of NFPA safety requirements.

· Basic knowledge of arc flash.

· Site electrical safety and LOTO.

Travel required / Work Hours:

· Work from home office 1-week per month.

· Travel to job sites 3-weeks per month.

· Day shift Monday -Friday during normal operations. Emergency support occasionally needed on nights

and weekends.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· Able to navigate industrial environment.

· Able to climb ladders.

· Ability to work weekends and holidays on a scheduled and unscheduled basis as needed based on

emergent facility challenges.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· Must be able to work in hot, dirty industrial environment.
