Position summary: Applies standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction and installation, upgrades, retrofits and quality assurance of proper methods and procedures  for electrical components  general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and local and national codes.

Currently we have an opportunity for an Electrical Field Services Inspector to join our team. The successful candidate will work on various projects for municipal, industrial, federal and private sector clients.  The Candidate would coordinate daily field activities with our construction management team, the client’s inspection and engineering department as appropriate, other consulting firms, and contractors, for construction installations of facilities serving the water and waste water industry in the southeast region of Virginia. Construction will include low and medium voltage plant power distribution systems, motor control centers, VFD’s and Soft Starts, motors, PLC’s, instrumentation, and other related equipment for plant power and control systems. Project work will include working with design engineers and contractors for layout and selection of equipment based on specifications, field investigations, field engineering support during construction, inspections for compliance of National Electrical Code (NEC) and client specifications, equipment testing and commissioning, and develop project redline as-build conditions. The successful candidate will be working to help provide inspections for new facilities, expansions, upgrades, and retrofits.

Essential functions and responsibilities

Perform constructability reviews of designs Demonstrate skills with thorough knowledge of procedures, practices, installation, and testing methods, as well as of the National Electrical Code Provide assistance with field investigations for arc flash data collection and ground grid testing Research electrical equipment standards and specifications, design equipment layout and coordination with process mechanical, produce circuit and panel schedules, conduct engine generator sizing using vendor software Perform electrical calculations including arc flash, short circuit, system coordination, voltage drop, equipment sizing, and research and design to the current National Electrical Code Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standards Assign, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all phases of the project Work on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues Gathers and maintains record documents Makes field notes and computations Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries
