MISSION / SUMMARY:

Employees in this classification are required to repair, maintain and install any and all plant electrical, electronic and instrumentation equipment.  Employee must function at high levels of quality and efficiency while maintaining the highest standard of safety.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

 

Perform troubleshooting duties, which involve checking, testing and inspecting to determine cause of trouble.  Make necessary repair or adjustments to correct defects.  With the aid of blue prints, wiring diagrams, schematics, sketches or verbal instructions perform the installation of, repair to and maintenance of any and all plant electrical, electronic and instrumentation equipment, including . Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections and walkthrough millwide on each shift and make log entries each shift. Direct the work of apprentices and mill personnel when assigned for a given job. Use  RSLogix 5, 500 and 5000, PanelBuilder, and basic Microsoft Office applications programs to troubleshoot and repair all PLC, digital drive and DCS-based systems in the mill.  Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment associated with these systems.  Design, construct and start up PLC-based systems.  Use software to check out storeroom parts and enter maintenance work orders. Diligently practice good safety and housekeeping techniques in accordance with shop rules.  Must have general knowledge of NFPA 70E. Other duties as assigned.

 

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

Manufacturing and or Mill experience strongly preferred. Working knowledge of computer programs using Windows based operating systems.  Must have good general working knowledge of the location of all power sources for all mill equipment.  Must be able to demonstrate ability to identify voltage levels with the use of digital multi-meters.

 

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Certified Electrical Technician and/or equivalent work experience.  

 

 

SPECIFIC SKILLS:

Must be able to read and interpret information sheets. Experience with Allen Bradley, MeasureX (MXOpen), and DeltaV systems is desired.  Making decisions under the pressure of continuing production Must be able to work around and climb over the machine while it is in operation. Must be able to operate power tools and equipment.

 

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

Follows schedule of the plant, generally 1st shift Expected to cover vacancy for absent peer. Work overtime as needed.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to work around and climb over the machine while it is in operation. Climbing extension ladders, working from girders and scaffolding, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or movement within confined areas. Work in all buildings or outdoors in all seasons with areas of fluctuating temperature and weather as well as exposure to dirt, grease, fumes and heat. Standing for extended periods. Awkward and/or repetitive movements. Work involves moving or lifting of equipment, materials, tools. Must be able lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Must have knowledge of methods of lifting heavy equipment, which includes the use of chain blocks, rope blocks, slings, hitches and overhead cranes. Required to work on voltage levels up to and including 2300 volt AC and around high voltage equipment.
