OVERVIEW:
The Electrical & Instrumentation Tech I is responsible for operating computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks. This role involves assisting with the installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities of new and existing instrumentation to ensure compliance with process specifications. The technician will also assist with the repairs of all electrical systems, equipment, and machinery, and must be familiar with repairing, servicing, calibrating, and installing process instrumentation, control valves, and valve positioners. The role requires reading and understanding schematics, P&IDs, manuals, and diagrams to diagnose problems with machinery or process controls. The technician will recommend changes or upgrades to electrical systems to increase productivity and functionality, perform regular tests of new and existing electrical systems, and plan and implement methodologies and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects. Additionally, the technician will prepare specifications for the purchase of materials and equipment, assure CI projects are completed satisfactorily, assist in developing capital project programs, compile data and write reports, and maintain a high level of integrity and discipline with a strong work ethic.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
+ Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
+ Assist with the installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities of new and existing instrumentation to ensure compliance with process specifications.
+ Assist with the repairs of all electrical systems, equipment, and machinery.
+ Must be familiar with repairing, servicing, calibrating, and installing process instrumentation, including but not limited to level, temperature (RTD and thermocouple), flow pressure, and analytical transmitters.
+ Must be familiar with repairing, servicing, calibrating, and installing control valves and valve positioners and current to air converters.
+ Reading and understanding schematics, P&IDs, manuals, and diagrams to diagnose problems with machinery or process controls.
+ Recommend changes or upgrades to electrical systems to increase productivity and functionality.
+ Perform regular tests of new and existing electrical systems, equipment, and machinery to spot potential problems and ensure systems are operating at their highest possible levels of functionality.
+ Plan and implement methodologies and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.
+ Prepare specifications for the purchase of materials and equipment and/or the solicitations of labor.
+ Assure CI projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
+ Assist in developing capital project programs for new equipment and major repairs.
+ Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects.
+ Maintain a high level of integrity and discipline with a strong work ethic.
+ Any other tasks required from time to time as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
+ Must be 18 years of age.
+ High school diploma or GED required.
+ Degree from technical school related to this specific duty.
+ Must have knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
+ Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office.
+ Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the team.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
+ Strong time management skills.
+ Be flexible, reliable, and well-organized.
+ Work and disciplinary records will be considered.
+ Good verbal, reading, writing, and basic math skills.
+ Physically able to work in various positions, including sitting, walking, climbing, kneeling, lifting, reaching, and pulling.
+ Must be willing to operate man lift, forklift, boom lifts, etc.
+ Must be able to frequently lift 25 to 60 pounds.
+ Must be available to work a rotating shift arrangement as required.
