What you will be doing

The Measurement Engineer is responsible for ensuring that Rolls-Royce has fit for purpose measurement capability, solutions and resulting data for our products to meet business, customer and regulatory requirements. It covers engineers who are performing Measurement System, Instrumentation and Sensor related roles. These roles will define appropriate instrumentation and measurement system solutions, ensuring that they deliver valid data to the declared levels of uncertainty and integrity. In addition they may re required to ensure that the integrity and functionality of the test vehicle is not adversely affected.
 

Some of the task will be to:

Elicit, document and maintain customer requirements from customer needs throughout the solution's life cycle, i.e. for design, make, operation, maintenance, repair and de-commissioning.Develop potential concepts and use systems engineering methods to detemine the best concept. Use fit for purpose approval process for design solutions.Implement effective Risk Management for the solution and apply HSE policy during operations including a commitment to continuous improvement.Develop and design potential system definitions/solutions (including schemes), including expected performance. Use systems engineering methods to detemine the best solution using internal and external supply chain. Apply and verify solution. Use fit for purpose approval process for design solutions.Create, execute and maintain a validation plan for the system and provide validation evidence and reports. Ensure that the measurement system delivers the correct results.Coordinate proper systems implementations and modifications to meet the objectives of the customer including process changes, documentation (manuals and calibration procedures) and training.Work with SE&V, Programme Execution, Test Facility and Equipment, V&V IT systems, EFS, Materials, ME, Measurement Engineers, etc to configure and maintain product and component testing arrangements.Set-up and execute system health monitoring and maintenance schedules. Execute system maintenance activities.Investigate and troubleshoot systems problems impacting measurement activities and co-ordinate repair activities to bring the system back into serviceable condition.Monitor system and capability obsolescence and provide input to systems improvement plans using proper program management techniques.

To be successful in this role you will need to:

Degree level in Engineering or equivalent unless the role is a technician role Experience in relevant domain is preferred but not essentialGood communication, presentation skills and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.Be fluent in English.
