Position Summary:
The Electrical Panel Designer (Level 4 - Staff) will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying electrical and control panels for manufacturing test equipment. This position involves overseeing a team of technicians and junior engineers, ensuring the timely and efficient execution of design and build projects, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical panel design, test equipment development, and team management, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and equipment deployment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Team Management: Lead and manage a team of technicians and junior engineers, providing mentorship and support to ensure their professional growth, technical development, and timely project delivery.
Electrical and Control Panel Design: Design electrical and control panels for manufacturing test equipment, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety standards and specifications.
Build Test Equipment: Oversee the assembly and integration of test equipment, ensuring all components are correctly installed, configured, and tested for functionality.
Validate Test Equipment: Perform validation testing on newly designed equipment, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to ensure that the equipment meets customer requirements and performs reliably.
Deploy Equipment: Manage the deployment and installation of test equipment at customer sites, ensuring smooth integration, proper functionality, and customer satisfaction.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain thorough documentation for all designs, tests, and deployments, ensuring all processes are recorded and compliant with internal standards.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings in design and production, and contribute to the development of best practices within the team.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and customer support, to ensure designs meet the needs of both internal and external stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical panel design, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing teams of technicians or junior engineers.
Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, EPLAN) and control systems.
Strong knowledge of electrical components, control systems, PLCs, and industrial automation.
Experience with test equipment design, troubleshooting, and validation.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to travel to customer sites for equipment deployment and support as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the clean energy or renewable energy sectors.Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., UL, IEC).Hands-on experience with equipment deployment and commissioning.Why Generac Clean Energy?
