POSITION SUMMARY:
This Electrical Vehicle Control Systems Test Engineering position you will be responsible to lead the software and hardware testing for control systems used on refuse vehicles. The primary responsibility for this position will be to develop and execute test plans for vehicle control systems, interpret and report results, develop and maintain Hardware in the Loop and Software in the Loop equipment and automated test scripts. This position will also be responsible for issue tracking and issue management for the control system software for the vehicle. In this position you will also provide analysis of data for and potential root cause of failed test cases. You will also need to understand and apply standard engineering principles. Create simulations and prototypes to evaluate preliminary designs and test how a machine, structure or system operates. Design and test components and integrate components to produce final product. Monitor quality of products and control the efficiency of processes. Evaluate designs, overall effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety. Investigate root causes of failures to maintain quality and recommend improvements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
Responsible for vehicle controls systems testing, failure analysis, test case development, programming, of test equipment, and maintaining of development test environment for simulation. Ability to work cross functionally with mechanical engineering, understanding kinematics of mechanical designs. Experience in: Testing and Developing PLC logic from concept to operational use with any of the following PLCs: Allen Bradley, Modicon, GE Fanuc, Siemens, Automation Direct, Mitsubishi, Omron, Aromat, Toshiba, HMI or SCADA programming and configuration of any of the following software packages Wonderware, Rockwell, Intellution, GE Cimplicity, Ci-Tech, Iconics, Siemens, US Data, etc. or other mobile-equipment controller such as Vasso, HED, I/O Controls, EcoMat. Experience with: CODESYS, IEC 61131-3, MATLAB Simulink, Model Based Development, CAN Diagnostic Tools, CAN Bus, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, Industrial Ethernet, CANOpen, J1939, dSPACE, HiL , SiL testing environment development, PROFIBUS, DeviceNet and/or other RS485 Networks. Experience with development in HiL and SiL testing environments. Design controls required to aid in the performance of the primary duty of a refuse collection vehicle. Compliance with all applicable government safety and environmental standards as they pertain to motor vehicles or heavy-duty trucks. Requires excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to be applied in design, programming, and troubleshooting. Requires the ability to simultaneously organize and successfully execute multiple project responsibilities. Possess great communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact with all levels of management, clients, and vendors. Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and structural problems. Act as a technical mentor and coach to less experienced engineers. 20% travel is required for this position.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent technical degree or equivalent experience. 2 to 3 years related experience in controls and assembly operations. Must have ground up development experience with PLC applications. Must have testing experience with PLC Application Code and vehicle control systems. Design and development of Control System applications including generating PLC logic or other mobile controller platforms. Wiring schematic design capabilities. Good electrical and mechanical skills.
