Smurfit Westrock – Electrical Project Engineer – Covington, VA


The Opportunity: As an Electrical Project Engineer you will be responsible for coordinating the planning, organizing, and completion of capital projects. 

 

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

Support and foster safety and environmental complianceUnderstand safe designs, safe work practices, and safe work environmentsEvaluate and performance of electrical systems to determine the best option for future needsDevelop capital CFR documents for the capital approval processImplement capital projects on time and within budgetControl project costs by developing bid packages, monitoring expenditures, and administering contractsEstablish project schedules by studying specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elementsResponsible for construction oversight during implementation phases of on-site constructionPartner with operations, E&I, Process Control, and Mechanical Maintenance to understand all processes and how teams and individuals are involved and impacted at each step

 

What you will need to succeed:


Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Electrical Engineering preferredMust have 7 to 12 years of experience in a project, operations, or maintenance engineering roleExperience with SAP preferredStrong problem-solving and process-analysis skills to evaluate data and make decisions to drive process improvements through capital upgradesPossess effective communication skills to clearly convey project-related data to operations, maintenance, and managementProven track record of collaboration within cross-functional teamsWork experience in the paper industry or similar industry preferred
