Role Summary Lead the design, development, and implementation of electrical prototype systems essential for validating hardware and software components in vehicle development programs. This role involves close collaboration with engineering teams to ensure robust testing infrastructure and efficient prototype development processes. Responsibilities • Design, build, validate, and update assets throughout the engineering lifecycle; including engineering lab cars, hardware mules, subsystem test bucks, and in-vehicle validation hardware • Create prototype development processes and best practices to maintain efficiency, cohesiveness, and consistency • Work closely with engineering teams to ideate and create testing infrastructure, ensuring all needs are met • Provide critical vehicle and subsystem test infrastructure to prove hardware/software systems and components for multiple vehicle programs • Develop wire tables, BOMs, prototype harness drawings, and other technical documentation as required • Integrate test assets into vehicles and support test execution as needed • Support low-volume prototype harnesses for test assets and initial production, and leverage CMs depending on the size and scope of the project • Ensure suitable levels of stang, training, and resource coordination to support all test assets for multiple vehicle programs and development programs • Develop and support engineers, specialists, and technicians • Plan and ensure the availability of necessary facilities, equipment, and materials in laboratory spaces, and ensure compliance with all safety requirements Qualifications • 10+ years of troubleshooting and diagnosing vehicle electrical systems • 7+ years of leadership experience in fast-paced environments and experience leading and managing a diverse team • Demonstrated ability to align team goals with broader company-wide objectives, effectively balancing and prioritizing critical projects to achieve maximum impact • A deep understanding of the harnessing build process, from design and fabrication to testing and implementation • Proven ability to design, build, and validate electrical prototypes, including lab cars, test benches, and in-vehicle hardware • Expertise in generating clear and concise technical documentation, including wire tables, BOMs, and harness drawings • Proficiency in developing and maintaining efficient prototype development processes that streamline workflows and optimize output • Experience managing prototype harness production, including coordinating with contract manufacturers to ensure timely delivery and high-quality • Exceptional collaboration skills and the ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and manufacturing • A strong commitment to safety, with thorough knowledge of lab safety practices and procedures • Experience in maintaining a well-equipped and organized lab environment, ensuring the availability of necessary facilities, equipment, and materials • Familiarity with configuration control and best practices for maintaining configurations of test assets • Familiarity with JIRA-based workflows and proficiency in using JIRA for project management and issue tracking RIVIAN www.rivian.com Pay Disclosure Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Palo Alto, California Based Applicants: $149,200.00 - $187,100.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
