Electrical Service Driver
Summary The Electrical Service Technician manages the labor, materials, and production on service jobs and projects. The Service Tech provides technical expertise in existing or new installations as well as troubleshooting electrical wiring and equipment installations in varying environments. Day-to-Day Work Activities + ·      Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic equipment, wiring, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools + ·      Safely operate a service truck following defensive driving techniques, complying with the law, and maintaining a satisfactory driving record as detailed in the company policy manual + ·      Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications, NEC, and local codes + ·      Read specifications, and interpret drawings and blueprints to determine code requirements to plan and schedule work + ·      Estimate and order material and evaluate worker requirements to complete jobs + ·      Confer with managerial and technical personnel, other departments, including contractors, in order to resolve job-related issues and to coordinate activities + ·      Record information including timesheets, work orders, safety reports, and other required documents + ·      Assign work to employees taking into account their level of experience and work that needs to be completed + ·      Advise management when necessary to plan for contingencies + ·      Prepare sketches/drawings, or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes + ·      Mandatory participation in the “On-Call” rotation to respond to unplanned/emergency work outside of the normal work schedule on and as needed basis + ·      Follow safety rules and notify supervision or others when a safety hazard is observed + ·      Other unlisted activities will be assigned as necessary Knowledge & Skills Necessary to Succeed + ·      Possess a valid Texas Journeyman or Master Electrician License + ·      Minimum of 5 years experience working as a Service Technician or as a foreman in a role requiring troubleshooting expertise + ·      High school diploma or G.E.D. vocational school diploma or certification + ·      Knowledge of materials, methods, tools, and NEC standards involved in electrical work + ·      Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, and geometry and their applications to solve problems + ·      Must be willing to participate in continuing education courses to grow technical and safety skills + ·      Prove outstanding customer service using strong communication skills + ·      Analyze information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems + ·      Ability to properly convey information to others using the English language, NEC, local and other applicable documents to substantiate the information delivered to direct or indirect supervisors, peers, clients and subordinates + ·      Organize, plan, and prioritize work by developing specific goals and plans keeping the end result in focus Skills (Developed capacities that facilitate successful performance) + ·      Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times + ·      Professionalism – Communicating respectfully, avoiding derogatory language, dressing appropriately, and affirming instruction. Zero tolerance for harassment + ·      Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents + ·      Troubleshooting - Determining causes of operating errors and create a resolution to the issue at hand + ·      Equipment Selection - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job + ·      Judgment and Decision Making - Considering potential actions and choosing the most appropriate one + ·      Time Management - Managing one's own time and the time of others + ·      Active Learning - Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making   Must Be Proficient Using the Following Equipment, Tools, and Technology + ·      Aerial Boom, Scissor Lift, Tugger and equipment set up, and Hydraulic Benders, (existing certifications is a plus) + ·      Power analysis tools, circuit tracers, and digital meters + ·      Ability to utilize Digital and hand crank “Megger”, Volt-OHM-Ammeter, circuit tracers. + ·      Ability to utilize computer related equipment.
