JOB FUNCTION: The Physical Security Alarm Technician (PSAT) shall plan, install, maintain, and repair physical security systems.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform design, planning, lay out, installation, adjusting, servicing, maintaining and repairing of safe locks, vaulted areas, combination door locks, alarm systems and related physical security work.
• Change door and safe combinations, alarm system access and control codes, related record keeping and other duties.
• Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of alarm systems, physical access control systems, vaults, safe locks and related devices using hand tools power tools, electronic instruments and equipment.
• Install, maintain, and repair Kaba MAS X-10 locks.
• Check alarm systems, combination door locks and safe locks to assure that systems are properly working.
• Check and confirm coverage and proper functioning of sensing devices and other security safeguards.
• Disassemble combination-locking devices, repair or replace worn tumblers, springs, and other electronic or mechanical parts.
• Reinstall new or repaired parts.
• Change combinations, opens safe locks, vaults and doors with combinations.
• Directs other electricians and repair personnel as required.
• Diagnose alarm systems faults, and adjust, maintain or repair as required.
• Inspect rooms, suites, vaulted areas, and buildings for proper physical security systems.
• Participate in related record keeping duties.
• Complete ADC’s as required.
• Perform related work as assigned.
• Perform duties equivalent to a Grade 1 Electrician
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Certification as Journeyman Electrician.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to obtain within one year and maintain a Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Private Security Registration
• Thorough working knowledge of national and local electrical codes.
• Thorough knowledge of AC/DC electronic theory and solid - state electronics, DC control systems and computer systems.
• Ability to write as well as comprehend written and oral instructions
• A willingness to work rotational shift if necessary, including days, evenings, and nights as well as overtime, on-call & call-ins, weekends, and holidays as required.
EXPERIENCE:
• Eight years’ experience in the electrical trade in maintenance and/or construction required.
EDUCATION: High school, technical school, apprenticeship, trade school graduate or equivalent required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master electrician license.
• NFPA-70E Training.
• OSHA 10 Training
• CPR Training
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
SECURITY: Must be a U.S. Citizen, possess and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Incumbents may work in conditions that require operating industrial machinery/power tools and motor vehicles. Additionally, incumbents may participate in work that requires walking, bending, squatting, and carrying materials throughout the facility. Workplace conditions necessitate following strict safety guidelines and the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Work tasks requiring the incumbent to lift weight more than 50 pounds requires two or more persons.
