Electrical Technician
**POSITION SUMMARY** The Electrical Technician applies electrical theory and related knowledge to test and modify operational electrical machinery and electrical control equipment and circuitry. Assembles and tests motor-control devices, switch panels, transformers, solenoids, and other electrical equipment and components according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles. Diagnosis causes of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventive and corrective maintenance. As a function of this position, the Electrical Technician may be involved with the generation, collection, storage, and preparation of shipments of hazardous waste. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Patrolling the production areas, inspecting equipment for potential and actual hazards, wear, leaks, and other conditions requiring maintenance or shut down. Maintaining and achieving safety and environmental regulations during maintenance activities with compliance to all regulatory permits. Reading Standard Operating Procedures to ascertain job scope, tools, permits required to complete tasks. Responding to verbal, written, or electronic instructions from Supervisor and/or Maintenance Planner/Scheduler. Maintaining work areas to acceptable standards of housekeeping and sanitation. Effectively interacting with other employees in a team environment. Conducting and documenting as required, inspections on safety equipment, process equipment, and forklifts. Participating in safety processes as well as various special committees or teams to ensure continued safe and efficient operation. Working with Maintenance Leadership to ensure all personal training requirements are met. Obtaining safework permits as required for maintenance or project work. Effectively communicating with outside contractors and vendors as required. Communicating with scheduling, production, and other areas or departments in the absence of the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler. Working with area operations employees to determine daily maintenance work requirements. Working with Maintenance Planner/Scheduler to ensure completion of planned workload. Recording accurate information on all Corrective and Preventive Maintenance Work Orders and filing hardcopy paperwork. Entering individual time into CMMS on a regular weekly basis. Working with Technical Groups as required to meet project needs. Recommending new, or changes to existing Preventive Maintenance Work Orders, to improve equipment up time. Working overtime or call-ins as required to minimize equipment downtime. Cleaning up spills and recognizing if a material is a potential hazardous waste, and contacting EH&S with the information needed to make this determination. Collecting Hazardous waste in jars, pails, drums, totes, or tank wagons, and labeling and storing them in designated areas. Performing other duties assigned as required and/or assigned **THE IDEAL CANDIDATE** **Desired Background** + This position requires the equivalent of a High School education and at least five years of experience in an industrial electrical field + Electrician certification desirable. **Knowledge, Skills & Talents** Formally trained in the National Electric Code (NEC) Must have knowledge (current NFPA 70E Training) of ARC FLASH requirements, and ARC Flash procedures. Must have good troubleshooting and communication skills. Have basic knowledge of the workings of Maintenance Computer based work order system operation Power Distribution + Must have working knowledge of AC and DC voltage + Experience working with voltages from ranges of 24V – 480V. Troubleshooting Equipment + Must have working knowledge of such as a FLUKE, MEGGERING METERS, HART EQUIPMENT and use basic electricians hand tools. Electrical Motors + MCC’S + VFD’s + Motor Starters + Motor troubleshooting Must have knowledge of Basic Industrial Instrumentation + Pressure and Temperature Transmitters and their operation / troubleshooting / replacement. + Level Instrumentation Calibration + Photo-eye troubleshooting Industrial Automated Valves + Must have knowledge of Valve Positioners – Their types and their operation. + Ability to replace a full valve assembly + Replace a valve top-stack (actuator, positioner, indicator) + Pneumatic driver troubleshooting for valve stacks Controls capabilities + Have basic knowledge of the workings of Ethernet Operations + Must have knowledge of the workings of PLC’s. + Wiring signal lines to and from com-cards Packaging Equipment + Must have working knowledge of: Robots arms, Filling Equipment, Conveyor systems, palletizer and stretch wrapper equipment, etc. Routing & bending conduit + Pulling single and multiple wire strands + Wiring terminations (Power and Signal) Vantage is a leading supplier of naturally derived specialty ingredients and formulations that cater to the evolving needs of industrial and consumer markets.
