Incumbents in the Electrical Technician Journeyman perform complex work in the efficient installation, maintenance, and repair of campus electrical systems, electrical wiring, fixtures, equipment, and systems. Accomplishes this by applying journeyman skills in conjunction with advanced technical knowledge and the ability to analyze and understand unique project requests. Works as a member of a team on various projects or assignments.
Responsibilities Installs electrical systems for remodeling and commercial projects on campus.Maintains electrical systems of various voltages in all buildings on campus.Repairs and maintains all campus lighting in buildings, walkways, parking lots, roadways, etc.Performs preventative maintenance on all electrical systems and equipment.Troubleshoots and repairs electric controls.Assists with electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance.Provides technical guidance and direction to less senior technicians.Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and suppliesPromotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.Cleans equipment, shop area, and work site.Prepares labor and materials estimates for repair and renovation projects.Assists in monitoring, ordering, and maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment.Coordinates projects and schedules work to ensure timely completion and quality standards, as needed. Maintains electrical systems of various voltages in all buildings on campus.Repairs and maintains all campus lighting in buildings, walkways, parking lots, roadways, etc.Performs preventative maintenance on all electrical systems and equipment.Troubleshoots and repairs all types of electric controls. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned. QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
Minimum of four (4) years of direct work experience in the Electrical field.Preferred Qualifications:
Licensed as a Journeyman Electrician.Five (5) years of experience in a commercial setting and applying journeyman level skills.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of all state electrical, safety, and fire codes.Advanced knowledge of electrical installation and maintenance techniques.Knowledge of all types of electrical systems including generation and utilization.Skill in the use various hand and power tools common to the trade.Basic computer skills.Customer service skills. Skill in troubleshooting and repairing all types of electrical circuitry.Ability to create, read, understand, and build to specifications from blue prints and schematic drawings.Ability to work without supervision. Ability to isolate detects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.Ability to measure, cut, thread, pull, and install electrical conduit.
