Job Details:

Purpose

Aid in the development and field deployment of underwater acoustic acquisition systems in support of defense-related and research applications in the Environmental Sciences Laboratory (ESL).
 

Responsibilities

Assist with hardware fabrication and battery assembly/fabrication, as required

Coordinate and execute on the fabrication of complex electronics systems.

Deploy/recover subsea systems in field from offshore vessel / work boats and troubleshoot and repair equipment, as necessary.

Develop and review quality processes to confidently ensure constructed systems meet operational requirements.

Assist with cable fabrication and electrical support items, as required

Assist with procurement and inventory for board fab and assembly

Performs diagnostics on electronic components to determine functioning level and capacity.

Procurement and tracking of inventory.  Advanced documentation support.

Maintain electrical test lab and test equipment

Fabrication and maintenance of scientific equipment.

Assist with preparations for offsite operations.

Develop and review fabrication instruction and processes to be used by junior technicians.

Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High school graduation or GED

Seven years of experience

Able to interpret manuals/schematics.

Experience with basic lab equipment

Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to articulate clearly and concisely.

Self-motivated, quick learner, results-oriented and a clear focus on quality.

Willingness/ability to perform frequent domestic/foreign travel up to 30 percent.

Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

US Citizen: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Associates of Applied Science in Electronics or certification in technical trade.

Ten or more years of work experience in an electronics-related technical trade.

Soldering experience with through hole and surface mount applications.

Ability to create test procedures to validate and ensure that electrical design requirements of products are met.

Hands on electronic fabrication experience.

Hands on mechanical fabrication experience.

Experience directly supporting Engineers in the development and testing of prototype electronic hardware.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Basic familiarity with Altium Designer

Salary Range

$54,000-$64,000+/negotiable depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
