EES Coke Operations is a facility in River Rouge, MI on Zug Island. The plant produces coke from various types of coal blends and is then used as fuel in the blast furnaces at the steel mill.
This is not a position with Detroit Edison, it's a position with EES Coke Battery, which is a subsidiary of DTE Energy.
Job SummaryLocation: River Rouge, MI
The Maintenance Turn Manager is responsible for crew safety, environmental compliance, productivity, profitability, employee retention, and customer satisfaction within the business unit. Assist in management of all Coke Making activities as a collaborative member of the management team.
Key Accountabilities Responsible for the implementation of business unit safety activities to meet or exceed organizational goals Maintains interpersonal relationships with individuals both external and internal to the organization Be an active participant of developing and maintaining a culture of professionalism Develops employees to maximize performance potential Responsible for supervising others in a union environment Responsible for enforcement of rules, policies, or expectations, etc. Responsible for the implementation of crew/turn safety activities to meet or exceed organizational goals Minimum Education & Experience Requirements A Bachelor’s or Technical Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Field and at least 5 years of experience or In the absence of a formal degree, a high school diploma or GED and 5 to 7 years of experience in manufacturing and maintenance or Supervisory experience in heavy industrial operations Proficient in PLC knowledge to use in troubleshooting controls Understanding of power distribution systems Some understanding of instrumentation and calibration of electronicsOther Qualifications

Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme heat and cold. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and/or machinery and burns. Occasionally exposed to vibration and fumes or airborne particles which will require the use of personal protective equipment including respirators or self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), flame retardant clothing, etc. Exposed to protected and unprotected heights, which requires the use of a personal fall protection system (harness/lifeline). The noise level in the work environment may occasionally go above the threshold, requiring PPE.
