Your growth is key to our ongoing success—take the lead in shaping your career development, goals and future! **Summary:** Station Electrician must have the ability to troubleshoot, install, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical equipment typically found at a power plant. Typical equipment would include but not limited to, breakers, motors, lighting, transformers, heat tracing, power feeds and cabling. This position is at our Ivanpah Generating Station facility in Nipton, CA (a 30-minute drive from Las Vegas Boulevard). **Essential Duties/Responsibilities:** + Understand and comply with NRG Safety Program and Policies + Understand and follow NRG Policies and procedures + Read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics. + Perform general electrical maintenance + Troubleshoot electrical issues, diagnose malfunctions; determine and take corrective action to restore electrical or electronic equipment or systems to service + Test and repair problems on electrical and electronic circuits (Voltages up to 13,800VAC and 250VDC) + Utilize electrical test equipment, meters, meggers + Inspect, maintain, dismantle, repair, test, alter, and reassemble such electrical and electronic equipment as motors, generators and related auxiliary equipment, circuit breakers, control equipment, relays, signals, power and light circuits, fiber optic systems, transformers, and other power equipment. + Maintain drawings, records, and technical manuals + Operate, forklifts, manlifts and other mobile equipment as required. + Clean electrical equipment, electrical equipment areas, and shop areas, as required. + Assist other job classifications as may be required + Be able to learn specific skills on Maintenance, Troubleshooting and Repairs of motor operated and air operated valves and their associated controls. **Requirements:** + High School Diploma or GED equivalent + Three years (including apprenticeship) or more of industrial electrical maintenance experience in the repair, inspection, testing, installation and/or maintenance of related power plant equipment including inspection and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnostics + Formal or informal training in electronics and pneumatics, instrumentation or other related technical discipline is considered a plus. **Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):** + Knowledge of electricity, voltage, and current relationships. + Knowledge of electrical maintenance requirements used to establish and maintain scheduled electrical maintenance program for the plant’s equipment. + Ability to discern assorted colors. + Knowledgeable of power plant electrical systems and able to do switching to clear circuits for equipment maintenance safely and correctly. + Ability to produce high quality work with a minimum of supervision or direction. + Ability to follow, interpret and act on written and verbal job instructions, and reports, technical manuals, and data. + Ability to use basic mathematics including algebra & geometry to take measurements and perform computations required for installation and calibration of equipment. + Ability to maintain job site in a safe manner. + Ability to operate company vehicles and heavy equipment such as overhead and mobile cranes, forklifts, aerial lift devices, and maintains operating licenses and certifications. + Ability to use hand and power tools to repair plant equipment. + Ability to Tag Out/Lock Out equipment per NRG’s Tag Out/Lock Out procedure. + Ability to inspect, repair, and maintain electrical and/or electromechanical operating and control systems, equipment, and fixtures, including instrumentation and heating and cooling systems. + Ability to inspect, repair, maintain, wiring and lighting systems, electric meters, electrical control equipment, outlets, and panels. + Ability to set up and operate rigging apparatus for installing or removing equipment. + Ability to repair electrical and electronic instruments. + Ability to clean, test and install batteries. + Ability to perform electrical tests on Cathodic Protection, install cables and anodes. + Ability to perform routine and emergency repairs of plant equipment. + Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on power plant electrical equipment and wiring. + Ability to apply principles of steam and electric plant operations. + Ability to operate test equipment such as voltmeters, meggers, amp meters, and high potential test equipment. + Ability to perform skilled electromechanical repair work on plant equipment and instruments. + Ability to maintain cranes in safe working order. Ex: Motor Overhaul, Electrical Controls, and Power Cords. + Ability to provide support to other crafts and vendors including installations of temporary lighting, removal of piping and cables. + Ability to communicate status of jobs, or work issues to management and craft personnel. + Ability to work successfully in a team environment and support other crafts and vendors. + Ability to use a personal computer and associated software. **Working Conditions:** Outdoor environment at generating plant work locations includes: + Work in and around rotating equipment, high voltage electrical equipment, high noise areas and elevations up to 450 feet. + Work in all temperatures and climatic conditions. Some temperatures can be extreme. + Performance of duties requires response to calls 24 hours/day, seven days/week and working irregular shifts. + Daily work expectation requires ability to perform tasks by walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, shoveling, climbing, and in positions above and below head, and extended from body to complete repairs. Plant Physical Requirements/Working Conditions + Must be able to pass a company physical exam. + Requires operation of a motor vehicle; valid driver's license is required. + Power plant environment. Work environment includes working out of doors, working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures, and high humidity areas at generating unit work locations. Work in all temperatures and climate conditions. Some temperatures can be extreme. **_Please Note: The salary range for this role is $84,800 - $127,200. Pay is based on several factors, including but no limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc._** NRG Energy is committed to a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
