Position Summary

The Mountain Electrician is responsible for maintaining the resort's electrical distribution system and facilities.  A Journeyman Manufacturing Plant license is required for this position.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities 

Monitors and maintains resort electrical systems. 

Operates and maintains resort generator systems. 

Troubleshoots and repairs electrical system failures. 

Assists the Lift Maintenance department with electrical maintenance on the lifts. 

Assists Facilities Maintenance will electrical systems in buildings 

Secondary Function 

Maintains the electrical system HMI and distribution monitoring equipment in the electrical office. 

Assists other maintenance departments as required.

May need to respond to the resort during a power failure at off-work hours. 

Supervise and train apprentice.  

Job Scope

As outlined and defined by the Director of Base Operations. 

Supervise any resort electrical projects. 

The position requires strong self-direction skills.

Positions supervised: Apprentice LME or ME

 Scheduling and assigning work:

 Training: Trains apprentice in electrical maintenance 

 Salary actions: none 

Disciplinary actions: none 

Performance review: as required by the apprentice program 

Hiring/Termination:  none 

Interpersonal Contacts 

Daily with other resort staff and maintenance personnel.  Meets with vendors.  Coordinates with Midstate Power during power failures or for line maintenance. 

Specific Job Skills

License/Certifications: Oregon Driver’s License, Oregon manufacturing plant Journeyman license. 

Technical: Power distribution, switching, electric motor maintenance. 

Physical Capabilities: Ability to work outside in winter environment, work at heights, work with hand tools and power tools; perform necessary work functions while wearing a full body harness or other personal protective equipment; walk on uneven or irregular surfaces. 

Additional: Ability to drive a vehicle in winter conditions.  Ability to operate a snowmobile.  Previous experience in maintaining a power distribution system. 

Education/Related Experience

Minimum education required: High School Diploma

Minimum time in related position: Minimum 5 years experience in plant maintenance working as a Journeyman.
