The Ocean County Utilities Authority, a public wastewater treatment facility consisting of three treatment plants and 40 pumping stations, is presently accepting applications for the position of Electrician Aide I-IV. This position is part of the Authority’s Paid Apprenticeship Program and is located in Brick, NJ. Employees who successfully complete the apprenticeship program will receive a certificate of completion from the Department of Labor and may be eligible to apply for their Class A Journey worker or Electrical Contractor license through the State of New Jersey. The Electrician Aide I, II, III, IV assists in the operation and maintenance of all Authority electrical machinery and equipment. This includes emergency generators, transformers, distribution system, lightning protection, electronic equipment, motors, etc. Progression from one level to the next depends upon a variety of factors such as time in position, performance, additional skill and training, and the discretion and approval of the Authority’s management and Apprenticeship Committee. Electrician Aides assist in the repair, maintenance and installation of all electrical and electronic equipment of the Authority in a safe and efficient manner. They also assist in maintaining uninterrupted operation of all electrical equipment and implement preventative maintenance programs. Candidates must be responsible and liable for a basic set of tools when issued by the Authority, responsible for maintaining good housekeeping practices, may be required to perform tasks while utilizing respiratory protection and be available for emergencies on a 24-hour basis.
