Electrician Apprentice - North Slope, AK - Rotational

**Job Description**
An electrical apprentice works directly under the supervision of a qualified Journeyman Electrician in installing or maintaining a variety of approved wiring methods for distribution of electrical light, heat, power, radio, and signaling utilization systems.
**Responsibilities**
+ The work is performed in existing or new residential, commercial and industrial buildings and includes street and highway lighting, traffic signal and other outdoor above and below grade installations.
+ Plans layout, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment by performing the following duties.
+ New or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
+ Follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
+ Measure, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit.
+ Pulls wiring through conduit.
+ Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
+ Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
+ Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
+ Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads.
+ Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.
+ Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
+ Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
+ Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
+ This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
**Qualifications**
+ High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
+ Must be enrolled in the ABC Apprenticeship Program.
+ Must be able to obtain Alaska Electrical Apprentice’s Fitness Card within two (2) weeks of hire date.
+ Must be able to travel throughout Alaska to fill in on various construction projects as needed.
+ Valid Drivers License and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy preferred.

The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste or smell. Steel toed boots required on the job.
