Job Summary

Perform routine and less complex technical maintenance and repair work that involves troubleshooting, repairing and testing of mechanical and electrical systems including plant equipment, to ensure safe, reliable, and successful operation and performance of the Cook Nuclear Plant equipment. Use schematic, wiring and control diagrams to perform repair and maintenance work.

Job Description

Assist in locating and repairing defects in systems involving electrical, solid state, electronic, or mechanical components using elementary, wiring, schematic and control diagrams.Assist in setting up and connecting testing devices and assist in performing tests on various electrical equipment.Assist in inspection, repairing and diagnostically testing motor operated valve actuators, limit and torque switches.Test, troubleshoot, and repair emergency lighting battery packs, and all types of lighting. Lubricate bearings on all types of electric motors, and adjust and replace belts on pulleys.Disassemble, inspect, repair and reassemble standard electric motors as assigned; make splices and connections.Under close supervision, perform routine repair and maintenance on simple switches, sockets and outlets (up to and including 260 volts).Perform work to apply proper rigging. Erect and secure blocking and cribbing to support loads.Tape electrical connectors on circuits up to 260 volts.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent technical training and/or experience.

Work Experience:

One year experience in the electrical field. Combined training and/or experience requirements must meet a minimum of 3 years.

A physical abilities assessment is also required for this position.Assist engineers/others in root cause determination of equipment and component failures, and in preparation of data for engineering studies.Operate power and hand tool to assemble and disassemble devices for repair.Support and participate in the Emergency Plan Organization, and Corrective Action Program activities as assigned, and in accordance with procedures and policies applicable for the assigned role.Perform all duties, and work with others in a safe manner, in compliance with appropriate company safety policies and rules.Assume responsibility for continuously upgrading of knowledge and skillPerform all other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

Performance of duties may involve work in hazardous areas and possible radiation exposure within the limits prescribed by the NRC.Work location will include a plant environment which may include exposure to heat, cold, and noise.Work location will include outdoors, and therefore subject to weather conditions. It is understood that in the performance of most nuclear generating plant duties there will be associated radiation exposure within the limits prescribed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Must establish and maintain a permanent residence within a 45-minute safe drive time to the D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant.
