  Summary:

Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems) equipment and appliances, using hand tools and testing instruments to supply electrical power for lighting. Performs work monitoring/control systems and equipment operation at all INSPIRA facilities on mechanical equipment/systems as assigned.

Position Description

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems) equipment and appliances, using hand tools and testing instruments to supply electrical power for lighting. Performs work monitoring/control systems and equipment operation at all INSPIRA facilities on mechanical equipment/systems as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experiences:

•Minimum high school graduate or equivalent and trade school certification (after high school).

•Minimum of 2 years' Electrical / HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems) experience required with 5 years preferred.

Certification/Licensure:

•Valid driver's license required to operate any Inspira owned vehicles and adherence to Inspira's Fleet policy.

Knowledge & Skills:

•Must have a knowledge of electrical / mechanical systems of private buildings and safety codes.

•Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

•Ability to inspect facilities and equipment.

•A working knowledge of heating, air conditioning, and central systems.

•A working knowledge of fuel and steam systems.

•Ability to perform mechanical repairs.

•A working knowledge of electrical systems.

•Knowledge and observance of safety regulations.

Position Responsibilities

Performs general carpentry duties as assigned: 

•Calculates quantity or materials needed and requisitions (or requests) carpentry supplies. 

•Repairs partitions, doors, windows, floors, furniture. 

•Remove and install door hardware. 

•Install small areas of floor tile. 

•Replace glass windows, worn ceiling tiles. 

•Paint any area of facility as directed. 

•Install handrails, hang pictures, bulletin boards.

Completes carpentry related preventative maintenance and repairs as needed: 

•Maintain proper operation of closing mechanisms on all fire and smoke doors.

Performs general plumbing duties as assigned:

•Calculates qty or materials needed and requisitions/requests plumbing supplies. 

•Inspects, repairs, and replaces pipes, fittings, valves and fixtures. 

•Ability to use soldering equipment. 

•Install toilets, faucets, flush valves, shower heads. 

•Maintain efficient and safe operation of Medical Gas systems.

Completes plumbing related PMs and repairs as needed: 

•Performs assigned preventive maintenance with minimal supervision. 

•Opens clogged drains with plumber's snake or vacuum plunger. 

•Replace worn washers or other parts in leaky valves or traps. 

•Repair or replaces damaged fixtures. 

•PMs floor drains, water fountains, ice machines, water filters etc.

Is familiar with major plumbing systems: 

•Aware of major shutoffs. 

•Can use blueprints to locate main lines, shutoffs etc.

Performs general electrical duties as assigned: 

•Calculates quantity or materials needed and requisitions (or requests) electrical supplies. 

•Renews faulty switches, sockets, plugs, fuses and other systems, fixtures and appliances. 

•Install new wiring and electrical machinery. 

•Mounts motors, lighting fixtures and completes circuits.

All other assigned duties: 

•Must be available for emergencies. 

•Must be available to come in for ice and snow removal as well as other inclement weather events.

•Must be able to vary shift when required.
