SUMMARY: The successful candidate must demonstrate strong electrical experience in addition to working with mechanical and hydraulic systems, Basic blue print reading, PID control loops, DC power supplies, level probes, temperature probes, photo electronics, DC/AC motors, frequency drive controllers, motors starters, solid state relays, PLC based machine control systems.  Good communication skills and excellent trouble shooting skills. Experience of 2-4 years preferably in a fast paced production (bottling) environment helpful. Installs, maintains and repairs electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing etc. and associated control devices when and where required.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for complying with food safety, food security, Quality, GMP’s, HAACP, Allergen, and Sensitizer as well as other regulations as required.

 

Will be certified in the operations of all production machinery in his or her area of responsibility.

 

Responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of the product run on the lines based on specifications.

 

Responsible for duplicating and communicating all safety and good manufacturing practices in accordance with company policy as well as all other company policies.

 

Diagnose equipment in operation to troubleshoot/ locate problems, dismantle devices to gain access and to replace defective/worn components.

 

Adjusts and fine-tunes equipment to enhance or maintain operational status.

 

Performs preventive maintenance duties such as lubrication, repair or replacement of components.

 

Works on all voltages, MCC units, power distribution equipment etc.

 

Starts or operates equipment to test their performance.

 

Suggest changes in working conditions and procedures to increase efficiency of maintenance work crews and production machines.

 

Install, maintain and troubleshoot everything from complex machines to simple parts.

 

Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replace damaged or broken wires and cables.  Also, diagnose faulty mechanical, hydraulic, electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, and printed circuit boards.

 

Test malfunctioning machinery and discuss malfunction with other maintenance employee to diagnose malfunction.

 

Create electrical schematic when required. Program and configure PLC, touch screen, and communication networks as necessary.  Build panel back plate to layout.  Wire panel and install in field, including running conduit and pulling wires.

 

Specify, cost, and order materials needed to maintain plant facilities, machines and equipment. 

 

Create purchase order.

 

Test and troubleshoot prior to and after machine start-up to ensure operation to expected operational standards, including acceptable changes as requested by supervision and management.

 

Answer calls for maintenance assistance on the lines.

 

Plan, coordinate, oversee, do cost estimates, install, debug and start up special projects.

 

Maintains written records, time sheets and daily work sheets.

 

Adheres to company policies, procedures and safety standards as defined.

 

Represents the company in a positive manner at all times.

 

Ensures that safety and company policies are communicated and followed through in a consistent manner.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED ON THE JOB

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Associate’s degree and/or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment, or a two year certificate from college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.   2-4 years experience in a maintenance related environment necessary. Must have 2-4 years experience maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment. Ability to troubleshoot motors (single & three phase), motor controllers and PLC’s.  Must have own tools.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Able to read, write and speak English.  Excellent interpersonal skills, team player and an attitude to excel are a must.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL ABILITIES:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

MISC:

Previous experience necessary.  Ability to operate machinery preferred. Must possess mechanical ability. Bilingual a plus.  Computer literate with MS Office. Must have a high level of personal drive to succeed and possess strong leadership, communication and organizational skills. Growth potential exists for an ambitious manufacturing professional. 

 

SAFETY/GMP

All safety policies and procedures will be followed without exception.  Safety equipment is required by everyone, and must be worn at all times while on the job or in the manufacturing or warehousing area.  Safety equipment includes but is not limited to hearing protection, protective eyewear, hard sole shoes with leather upper, gloves, hairnet and beard net.  Loose fitting clothing, hooded garments, drawstrings and buttons are not allowed in any area of the plant facility.

 

 

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes/odors or airborne particles, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
