This role operates and maintains generator sets and equipment used in the power generation industry. Helps resolve electrical and mechanical problems, to achieve production targets. **Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:** + Performs routine component installations and maintenance. Maintains records of equipment usage, repair history, reliability and other similar factors. + Safely troubleshoot, maintain and repair electrical / instrument equipment, reciprocating engines and/or balance of plant equipment. + Power generating facility operations including, but not limited to, activities that involve local control panels, supervisor control, data acquisition systems, keys, switches, buttons, handles, valves, etc. + Perform not only instrument / electrical duties but provide mechanical assistance when needed with instructional direction. + Perform industrial maintenance activities including, but not limited to, the operation, maintenance and repair of pumps, fans, engines, fuel systems and remaining balance of plant equipment. + Cooperates with other operators in the power plant to ensure operational efficiency. + Reads and interprets mechanical and electrical blueprints and diagrams to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot machinery. Addresses equipment failures, calibrates errors and reports them to the lead technician or supervisor in a timely manner. **What You Have – Skills, Knowledge, & Experiences:** + **Standard Operating Procedures** : Extensive Knowledge of established standard operating procedures (SOP); ability to design, implement and evaluate standard operating procedures affecting daily and strategic business operations in order to increase operational efficiency. + **Decision Making and Critical Thinking** : Extensive Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. + **Effective Communications** : Working Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. + **Problem Solving** : Extensive Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. + **Power Generation** : Extensive Knowledge of working principles, methods, equipment and processes of power generation; ability to apply the knowledge appropriately within the power supply sector. + **Electrician Services** : Extensive Knowledge of electrical power, lighting and control systems; ability to plan and perform electrical work for buildings, infrastructures, and equipment. + **Troubleshooting Technical Problems** : Extensive Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a power generation environment. **Top Candidates Will Have:** + Electrical instrumentation background **Additional Information** + This role will be located in Laurel, Montana + Up to 10% travel + Relocation assistance not available At Caterpillar, we are committed to a diverse and inclusive environment that values and respects the unique talents, experiences, and viewpoints of our global employees.
