Summary Electrical Shop Trainees are assigned to assist qualified electricians conducting general and specialized installation, maintenance, and repair on various types of equipment excluding high tension. Roles and Responsibilities + Pass New Jersey Transit’s Electrician Aptitude Test + Read technical documents, wiring diagrams, schematics, construction drawings, etc. + Provide a valid Driver’s License and High School Diploma or GED + Work all shifts, weekends, and holidays + Successfully pass the pre-screening process including physical, drug test; criminal, employer, and driving background checks. Working Environment: + Climb, stoop, bend, crawl, balance, kneel + Be exposed to equipment that intensifies the heat factor on an occasional basis + Wear protective equipment such as hardhat, safety glasses, and safety-toe boots Work Location: + Redbank, Raritan NJ + This is a Unionized position. Rate of pay: The pay rates are tiered and are non-negotiable based on years and types of experience. Tiers start at $25.86 (80% of the full rate). The 100%-tiered rate is $32.32 .
