Job Summary:

Join the cutting-edge development team behind Altair Flux, a world leading software for low-frequency electromagnetic and thermal simulation, widely applied in automotive, aerospace, and high-tech industries. We have recently introduced topology optimization, a groundbreaking feature that automatically optimizes 2D structures of devices like electrical motors and actuators for maximum efficiency and performance.            

In a context of continuous improvement of electric motors, new simulation tools are emerging to explore new engine topologies that go beyond current standards. Shape and topology optimization tools are part of this approach since they allow the creation of new innovative designs. This internship will be done in collaboration with application engineers to assimilate the theory but also software developers. A final part of the internship will consist of promoting the work of the internship by creating tutorials and other communication supports. 

After completing some tutorials to get started with the Flux® software, you will have the task of applying and improving the optimization methods present in the Altair solution (Flux®, Optistruct®, etc.) to permanent magnet machines by thinking about optimization problems which are the most useful for e-motor manufacturers. These computations will consider electromagnetic aspects of machine theory, but also mechanical aspects to consider non-linearities. 

As part of a multidisciplinary team and following the Agile methodology, you will benefit from an enriching work environment, that favors collaboration and independent work.

 

What You Will Need: 

Basics:

You are in the final year of your engineering degree, with good knowledge of electrical machines, and in particular permanent magnet motors You have ease in programming, particularly in Python. You have good capacities in scientific popularizing and formalizing your work in English. You’re a team worker that knows how to take on his responsibilities. You’re an autonomous, force of proposal and rigorous person.
