Job Title: Electromechanical Technician
Job Description
Our client is seeking an Engineering Test Technician to work on the build, assembly, and testing of prototype hardware. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Design and Product Development Teams to ensure seamless integration of designs. You will brainstorm solutions to mitigate hardware risks and contribute to the development of a multi-disciplinary engineering prototype fleet. This position is ideal for a self-starter with a strong experience in building and testing prototype hardware.
Responsibilities
+ Build and test products at all stages of design and provide manufacturability feedback to the design team.
+ Manage multiple prototype builds through various stages of electrical and mechanical tests to ensure hardware performance.
+ Lead electrical checks of fully assembled prototypes to ensure they are flight-worthy after assembly.
+ Troubleshoot hardware and software failures in collaboration with Electrical and Embedded Software Engineers.
+ Brainstorm and prototype fixtures to resolve assembly or maintenance risks.
+ Collaborate with Structures, Integration, and Mechanism Engineers to identify component issues and develop solutions for optimal drone reliability and performance.
Essential Skills
+ Ability to manage multiple prototype builds through various stages of electrical and mechanical tests.
+ Experience in prototyping, assembly, or manufacturing of electro-mechanical components.
+ Proficiency in running test scripts in Python or C++.
+ Ability to model simple parts using CAD software.
+ High level of craftsmanship and attention to detail coupled with the ability to work quickly.
+ Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical challenges and solutions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a build or test technician role.
+ Experience in fixture building is helpful.
+ Familiarity with CAD software is a plus.
Work Environment
The hardware test environment consists of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for building and maintaining the engineering prototype fleet. You will be part of an integration team under the engineering organization, focusing on electrical testing. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, usually from 8 am to 5 pm. Candidates should be willing to work long hours, eager to learn quickly, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment. The team is currently expanding, adding a third member to the existing two technicians.
