JOB SUMMARY

Performs all department procedures and assists with the supervision other technicians as well as assists management in technical accountability of service lines.

Patient Care: Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention.  

Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.  Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.  

Quality: Collaborates with other departments or disciplines to achieve desired quality outcomes. 

Monitors quality of core processes in department.  Applies the principles of safety and infection control to ensure the safety of all patients.  

Communication: Demonstrates superior interpersonal and communication skills.  

Works within a team to achieve patient and team goals.  Shares and initiates regular and professional communication with co-workers.   Participates in regular staff meetings.   Identifies opportunities to improve processes based on feedback from staff and customers. 

Medical Knowledge: Provides primary health care and performs selective medical services under the direction of practice physicians.  

Obtains complete history and physical data on patients.  Reviews patient records.   Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.  Performs a complete physical exam and records findings.  Establishes presumptive diagnosis.  Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.  Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.   Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.  

The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School or GED required. 2 Year/Associate's Degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in neuro-diagnostics procedures or a minimum of 1 year of experience in Surgical Monitoring or 1 year experience in neuro and registration required. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.

Licensure: Registry eligible or registered/certified in a neurodiagnostic field required.

Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Has knowledge and skills necessary to modify care according to patient(s)’ age. Has the ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs. Maintain CPR. Able to identify basic cardiac rhythm and rate. Must be able to rotate call independently. Must be able to interpret basic encephalographic brain patterns; normal and abnormal. Must be able to rotate weekend shifts and or call independently. Must be able to assist Neurologists in the basic interpretation of encephalographic brain patterns; normal and abnormal.

Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Able to identify basic cardiac rhythm and rate. Assist and identify the basic interpretation of encephalographic brain patterns; normal and abnormal.

The job requires constant sitting, standing, walking, and bending/stooping. Frequent repetitive body movements. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs. occasionally. For any weight over 35 lbs. use Safe Handling Equipment.
