Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities
+ Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
+ Performs advanced neurophysiology testing procedures, EEG, EP, NCS, EMG using age/developmentally appropriate guidelines.
+ Must be capable of handling multiple tasks effectively and able to maintain a professional demeanor during stressful situations.
+ Maintain clinic schedule; contacts patients to schedule procedures.
+ Answer and respond to oncoming phone calls in a timely manner.
+ Prepare patient charts and interpret information accurately from reports.
+ Prepares, organizes, and summarizes data for physician review.
+ Enter all required information for reporting purposes.
+ Direct patients flow to examination and treatment rooms optimizing available space.
+ Educate patient/family about diagnostic procedures and prove pre- and post-education.
+ Cleans, replenishes, maintains, and assures availability of instruments and supplies for patient safety.
+ Assist the Neurophysiology Physician during the EMG needle examination and EEG electrode placement setting up for procedures.
+ Measures and record muscle response/electrical activity in response to nerve stimulation of the muscles.
+ Ensures electrode and equipment integrity, maintains and catalogs supplies, and patient preparation.
+ Performs routine testing under supervision; writes a descriptive technical analysis, calculates nerve conduction values.
+ Conduct and analyze complex electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG), nerve conduction velocity NCS, or other neurodiagnostic tests.
+ Observes, measure, and record the electrical activity and brain wave patterns by using an encephalograph.
+ Monitor patient’s comfort during tests.
+ Has hospital training to alert supervisor and/or activate hospital system such as rapid response, cardiac arrest, etc… per established protocols when encountering patient clinical issues.
+ Inspect, analyze, and troubleshoot client systems and equipment, run tests, interpret the results, source replacement parts, and negotiate costs with suppliers.
+ Communicates effectively with team members and Neurophysiologist physicians.
+ And other duties assigned.
Supervision –
+ Permitted to perform routine testing under indirect technical supervision after successful completion of all required competencies as established by the Neurology Physician Medical Director.
+ Works under supervision of interpreting provider who can be immediately present either electronically or in person.
Required Skills/Abilities
+ Associate degree in Applied Science or higher is preferred or a graduate from a CAAHEP accredited Neurodiagnostic program CoA-NDT, CAAHEP.
+ Bachelor’s degree preferred.
+ Must hold at least 1 registration by ABRET.
+ Three (3) years or more experience working in a patient care environment.
+ Pediatric experience preferred.
+ R. EEG T or R. EPT certification required.
