Job Summary:

This is a product engineering position of Engineering Manager for the Electro-magnetic Actuator & Valve Team in the Electrical Components Division. This team is responsible for Hydraulic, Transmission, and Engine Control Valves that are electrical or electronic.  The manager of the team provides leadership in the following areas:

People Leadership: Direct supervisor for 19 Caterpillar and agency engineers. The manager is expected to ensure the team is staffed for success, provide mentoring & coaching, and foster a culture of teamwork with process partners.  This position has dotted line responsibility for component development teams in Wuxi China, Monterrey Mexico, and a team of Testing Technicians in Mossville IL. Product Leadership: The Electro-magnetic Actuator & Valve team has global product responsibility for actuators & valves which are leveraged across Caterpillar machines and engines. The manager will lead the team in new product introduction, life cycle management, problem resolution, cost control, quality, availability, compliance with regulations, and managing intellectual property.Supplier Leadership: The Electro-magnetic Actuator & Valve team is highly engaged with various component suppliers globally in the development and manufacturing of its product lines.

• Managing the engineering staff and activities with an emphasis on organizational goals achievement, professional development and continuous improvement.
• Monitoring and continuously improving product and process performance, quality and cost-effectiveness for all engineering activities and deliverables.
• Providing leadership to create and maintain processes used to design, develop and manufacture components, systems, products, services, and technologies.
• Managing engineering product and manufacturing process or quality issues, from concept through end of life-cycle.

Education Requirement:

Accredited Engineering degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical degree

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

• Electrical / electronic component development experience

• Supplier management experience for a portfolio of suppliers and component types

• Experience with New Product Introduction, New Technology Introduction, Continuous Product Improvement, Component Lifecyle Management, APQP processes

• Experience with business plan management, including budgeting, actuals tracking, and capital processes

• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and controls

• Understanding of operating principles for Hydraulic, Transmission, and Engine Control Valves

• Basic understanding of the fundamental sciences associated with valves such as: compressible & incompressible fluid dynamics, tribology & thin film coatings, control theory, electro-magnetism, etc.

• Basic understanding firmware management, controls, and software development processes

• At least 5 years of experience developing high precision complex components or systems integration of such components

• Prior Supervisory Experience

• Experience working with global teams

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Summary Pay Range:

$156,000.00 - $234,000.00
