Responsibilities You will interpret engineering drawings which combine electrical and electronic schematics, logic diagrams, and mechanical drawings to perform electronics control maintenance. You will analyze diagnostic test readings and operating conditions of electronically controlled industrial equipment to isolate system malfunctions. You will use electronic test devices and specialized test equipment to troubleshoot malfunctions in electronic control equipment and components. This position has a Screen-out Element: I have the ability to perform common tasks including 11)Requires generalized knowledge of, and skill performs installation, maintenance, modification, and repair of highly complex systems of electronic sensing and control. This includes centralized environmental monitoring and control systems (EMCS) that use special purpose, dedicated computers to store operating parameters and initiate adjustments. 2)Incumbent applies a thorough knowledge of logic circuits of electronic amplification and control circuits, and of complex electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and/or pneumatic systems.3) In addition, applies advanced knowledge of industrial or environmental control processes to be accomplished by the equipment to properly test and coordinate the various portions of the system. Education Additional Information This announcement uses the Certain Competitive Service Positions direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. Several vacancies may be filled. A forty hour work week is typical for this position. Recruitment incentives may be authorized to eligible new hires. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position requires rotating shift work. Physical Effort: Work assignments require moderate physical effort. Incumbent frequently performs moderately heavy lifting, pulling and carrying of equipment and material weighing up to 40 pounds. Occasionally you will lift or pull heavy cable weighing more than 40 pounds with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. You may work aloft in bucket trucks, at ground level and in ground trenches or manholes. You will be required to bend, crouch, reach, stoop, climb, walk or stand for frequent or long periods of time. You must be able to distinguish colors and shades of colors. At times, you will work in awkward positions and restricted spaces where coordination of hands, legs and body are needed to perform tasks. Occasionally, climbing and working in high level places may be required. Working Conditions: The work is performed indoors/outdoors. You may be exposed to: temperature extremes of hot and cold, chemicals, unpleasant odors, fumes, wet slippery surfaces, and/or loud noises. There is the possibility of burns, broken bones, cuts and bruises from handling tools and equipment. There is the possibility of strains from awkward positions, injuries by falls, explosion of equipment or cables and low-voltage electrical shock. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
