Responsibilities You will operate PC computer terminals, laptop computers, interface devices, hand held microprocessors, local area network, front-end software and control devices. You will monitor temperature, flow, status, configuration and staging of HVAC systems. You will act as first response to system problems. You will performs installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and industrial air conditioning and refrigeration systems. You will maintain the efficiency, reliability and safety of operation of systems. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Uses engineering schematics, front-end software, computer generated graphics, database information and a wide array of sophisticated Direct Digital Controls (DDC) programs; 2) Acts as a first response to system problems; 3) Troubleshoots problems and makes necessary repairs or adjustments to restore system to normal operation. Education Additional Information This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments. The incumbent must have Universal Certification received from an EPA approved certifying program. Moderate lifting up to 40 pounds is required. Occasionally required to perform work by stooping, bending and reaching while in cramped and uncomfortable positions and by walking, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolds to perform work at various heights. Some work is performed outside and may require exposure to prevailing weather conditions. The incumbent may be exposed to fumes, dust, dirt, grease and oil, and is subject to the possibility of scrapes, cuts, bruises, contusions, burns, electric shock and eye hazards.
