Summary This National Guard position is for an ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number NGD2284P01 and is part of 114 MAI SQ. AREAS OF CONSIDERATION: - Title 32 Dual Status Technicians (DST): permanent employees (tenure group 1, 2 or 3) of the South Dakota Air National Guard - Title 5 National Guard Employees (NGE): permanent employees (tenure group 1, 2 or 3) with military membership in the South Dakota Air National Guard Responsibilities As an ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS-2610-13, you will: This position works within an Air National Guard Aviation Wing, Maintenance Group, Aircraft Maintenance Squadron or Maintenance Squadron, Avionics Element, Avionics Shop or Communications/Navigation/ECM, Guidance and Control, ECM Pod/Test Station shop that supports aircraft. This is an Air National Guard dual status technician position that requires military membership, compatible military skill assignment and classification. The primary purpose of this position is to supervise employees who install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronic avionics systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions. The supervisor in this career field must also possess the ability to perform on-or-off equipment maintenance on one or more complete electronic integrated systems associated with the assigned aircraft and/or maintenance on automatic flight control systems, instrument systems, inertial and radar navigation systems. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Military Rank: Open to E-7/MSgt and E-8/SMSgt For WS-13 2A071 - Avionics Test Station and Components; 2A271 - Special Operations Forces/personnel Recovery (SOF/PF) Integrated Communications/Navigation/Mission Systems; 2A272 - Special Operations Forces/personnel Recovery (SOF/PF) Integrated Instrument and Flight Control Systems; 2A273 - Special Operations Forces/personnel Recovery (SOF/PF) Integrated Electronic Warfare Systems; 2A374 - Fighter Aircraft Integrated Avionics; 2A375 - Advanced Fighter Aircraft Integrated Avionics; 2A871 - Mobility Air Forces Integrated Communication/Navigation/Mission Systems; 2A872 - Mobility Air Forces Integrated Instrument and Flight Control Systems; 2A971 - Bomber/Special (B/S) Integrated Communication/Navigation/Mission Systems; 2A972 - Bomber/Special (B/S) Integrated Instrument and Flight Control Systems; and, 2A973 - Bomber/Special (B/S) Integrated Electronic Warfare & Radar Surveillance Systems. 2A090 - Back Shop Maintenance Superintendent; and, 2A390 - Fighter Aircraft Maintenance Superintendent. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: An applicant must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months of specialized working experiences in performing, training and/or supervising assigned integrated systems repair and maintenance work operations. Must have working and training experiences in the maintenance, repair, and modification of integrated multi-complex avionics systems. Skilled in planning tasks for subordinate workers and expanded knowledge in using the equipment, facilities and materials. Skilled in meeting deadlines, in using time management to satisfy priorities and work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisors. Experiences included redirecting individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work. Skilled in articulating work requirements to higher level supervisors and experienced in planning current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommending projected work. Competent in researching and addressing work related problems such as, excessive costs or low productivity; and, determining the relevant causes. Experiences included implementing corrective actions, within authority, to resolve work problems. Must have the skill and knowledge to plan work and manage leave schedules. Capabilities included the ability to determine the types and levels of training needs, along with providing mentorship and guidance to subordinates for their professional skill and knowledge improvements. Experienced in writing FWS 2610 performance standards and provided subordinates with formal appraisals of their work performance. Experiences involved advising and counseling workers on how to improve their performance through explanations and demonstrations of work techniques. Work efforts included initiating recommendations for promotion or reassignment of subordinates to senior supervisors. Competent in reviewing job descriptions for accuracy and clarity. Knowledgeable in the correct methods used to investigate, analyze, and resolve grievances and complaints. Experiences involved providing recommendations for disciplinary actions. Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) and how they relate to work experience, education or training. Knowledge to plan, organize and prioritize the work assigned to the electronic integrated avionics systems shops to support the Maintenance Squadron mission. Skill to perform on-or off-equipment maintenance on one or more complete electronic integrated systems associated with the assigned aircraft. Skill to supervise employees in the maintenance, repair, and modification of integrated multi-complex avionics systems. Provide technical assistance to subordinates in completing technical order compliances, completing component and system modifications, and performing thorough system checks for correct operations. Education For the WG-13 ANG Dual Status Technician position, the mandatory military education requirements are the completion of an Air Force Seven Skill Level Technical Training School and awarded a compatible Seven Skill Level AFSC, along with the successful completion of at least two military professional education course program.
