Summary You will serve as an Electronic Technician in the Communications Maintenance Branch of NAVSTA. Responsibilities You will install, operate, modify, and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on primary communication systems for town and Radar Air Traffic Control Facilities. You will perform maintenance engineering and assist in the design of communication systems installed on the Naval Air Station systems and aircraft for permanent and tenant commands. You will develop and issue engineering specifications concerning novel and unusual problems in the processing, rework, or repair of assigned systems and equipment. You will provide technical decisions, engineering advice, and information throughout all levels of fleet activities. You will investigate, analyze and resolve problems pertaining to the design, installation, maintenance or repair of the equipment. You will troubleshoot and repair micro/miniature electronic circuits to include a multi-layered/component dense, board environment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications FOR THE GS-09 LEVEL: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate some or all of the following: 1) Installed, operated, modified, and performed preventative and corrective maintenance on primary communication systems for towers and Radar Air Traffic Control Faculties (RATCF); i.e. UHF and WHF transmitters and receivers, antenna systems, remote control units, test, and marine communications systems. 2) Troubleshooting and repairing micro/miniature electronic circuits, i.e. multi-layered/component dense, board environment. 3) Analyzing, calibrating, repairing, and maintaining general and special purpose test equipment. 4) Utilizing finding techniques to isolate radio interferences. 5) Performing tasks using microcomputer controls for radio and test equipment systems. 6) Troubleshooting and recommending repair on large-scale integrated circuits use in microcomputer systems. FOR THE GS-07 LEVEL: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate some or all of the following: 1) Utilizing basic electronics theories used in vacuum tubes, transistors, and digital circuitry to repair and replace components in electronic circuit boards. 2) Troubleshooting and repairing micro/miniature electronic circuits; i.e. multi-layered/component dense, board environment. 3) Analyzing, calibrating, repairing, and maintaining general and special purpose test equipment. 4) Utilizing finding techniques to isolate radio interferences. 5) Performing tasks using microcomputer controls for radio and test equipment systems. GS-07 Salary Range Step 01 $49,713 to Step 10 $64,628 GS-09 Salary Range Step 01 $60,808 to Step 10 $79,050 This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position requires rotating shift work. The position often requires irregular hours.
