Job Description
The Electronics Test Technician conducts a variety of electronic and electromechanical tests on electronic systems, assemblies, sub-assemblies, and parts to ensure product operation in accordance with specifications. They apply their knowledge of electronic principles to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment to operation. They troubleshoot non-conforming or malfunctioning products down to the component level, using schematics and original specifications as guides to test the product. The technician uses hand tools such as multimeters, voltage meters, oscilloscopes, and other equipment to perform electrical inspections and tests. They work with engineers from development to manufacturing to quality, and even with end customers for testing and troubleshooting of products, including R&D prototypes, inspections before shipment, warranty, or return claims.
ResponsibilitiesConduct electronic and electromechanical tests on systems, assemblies, sub-assemblies, and parts.Determine equipment malfunctions using knowledge of electronic principles and restore equipment to operation.Troubleshoot non-conforming or malfunctioning products down to the component level.Use schematics and original specifications as guides to test products.Perform electrical inspections and tests using hand tools such as multimeters, voltage meters, and oscilloscopes.Collaborate with engineers from development, manufacturing, quality, and end customers for testing and troubleshooting products.Work on a variety of products including R&D prototypes, inspections before shipment, warranty, or return claims.Essential SkillsAbility to apply electronic theory and test methods to troubleshoot and diagnose electronics down to the component level.Knowledge of schematics for electronics and electrical assemblies and sub-assemblies.Experience in electronic assembly using hand tools such as oscilloscopes and multimeters for testing, repair, or refurbishment.Experience with soldering, both through-hole and SMT.Experience with electrical testing such as hipot testing, AC/DC testing, and component testing.Additional Skills & QualificationsAS Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Electromechanical, or a similar field.Experience troubleshooting electronics with hand tools to the component level.Experience working with electrical testing equipment and performing repairs and refurbishments.Work Environment
75% of the time will be spent at the bench performing tests or troubleshooting. 10% of the time will be spent in calls or meetings discussing project loads, learning about new products, and planning. 15% of the time will be spent working with engineering, quality, or clients to improve design or product based on troubleshooting or testing results. The technician will work at an electronics test bench performing component-level testing on electrical assemblies and sub-assemblies for products about to ship out to customers and returns from customers. They will work in a team of 4-6 electronics technicians and closely with their supervisor, the rest of their team, and other departments such as shipping, quality, and engineering. There is a definite chance to go permanent in this role quickly, with two full-time openings available.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $22.00/hr.
