The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is the state of Florida’s social services agency. Within DCF, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) Program office is recognized as the single state authority for substance abuse and mental health services. The Office of SAMH is statutorily responsible for the planning, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive statewide system of care for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of children and adults with serious mental illnesses or substance use disorders.
North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center (NFETC) is a 216 bed, all male, forensic, mental health rehabilitation facility. The Center is located in northeast Gainesville, Florida on 639 picturesque acres with regular sightings of deer, turkey, and other wildlife. NFETC employs a variety of entry level to leadership positions including food service, maintenance, direct care, nurses, counselors, rehab therapists, medical doctors, security, psychiatrists, and psychologists.

This is a highly responsible and professional position that will serve as an Electronic Technician II. T his position will collaborate with each section within the state facilities and be required to use independent judgement, take initiative in carrying out duties and responsibilities and should be extraordinarily detail oriented.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:
+ Locate and make all necessary repairs on power failures (high and low voltage) circuits. Examples: wire pulling, replacement of conduit, transformer replacement and other miscellaneous items.
+ Repair and modify complex electronic equipment or install and maintain various types of signal control equipment working from drawings and schematics.
+ Perform test, preventative maintenance and make repairs as required on fire alarm system and related equipment including electronic door control locks.
+ Operate, repair and calibrate a variety of testing equipment such as volt meters, audio generators, line voltage tracers and other electronic testing equipment.
+ Maintain, repair and install any and all types of appliances and machinery. Examples: washers, dryers, kitchen equipment, televisions, radios, record players, clocks and cctv type equipment.
+ Make new installations, change, or repair all electronic and or electrical circuits. Examples: door alarms, hinge alarms, intercom systems, fire alarms, security systems and lighting systems.
+ Read blueprints and schematic drawings of wiring systems.
+ Other related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required for the position:
+ Knowledge of electronic equipment components and design requirements.
+ Skill in using specialized tools and equipment to install, maintain and repair electronic equipment.
+ Ability to identify and repair electronic malfunctions in electronic equipment.
+ Ability to understand and follow technical instructions relating to the installation, maintenance and repair of electronic equipment.
+ Ability to work independently.
+ Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
+ Ability to communicate effectively.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Completion of a training course in electronics and two years of experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of electronic equipment; or
+ Completion of a program of study in electronics from a vocational/ technical school or college and one year of experience as described above.
