Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add an Electronics Engineering Manager 2 – Communications Responsible Engineer to join our team in Rancho Bernando, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization supporting Global Hawk program.

This role has both 80% program technical responsibilities and 20% functional responsibilities as a section manager leading a team of 10-15 engineers of various grade levels.

PROGRAM duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Primary Responsible Engineer for complex communications subsystem, supplier technical interface, and focal IPT representative for integration support.

Lead, research, design, development, integration, and test of a variety of electronic equipment and systems, including RF datalinks, SATCOM and Communications Networks.

Maintaining complex RF communications architectures, systems; circuitry components; analog and digital computers.

Technical planning, architecture, design, integration, deployment, verification and validation, and system effectiveness analysis at all levels to include concept, design, configuration, test, installation, operation, and maintenance.

Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

Interface with Sub-IPTs for cost, schedule, and risks and opportunity.

Reporting comms status to Program Managers and IPT Management.

FUNCTIONAL HOMEROOM duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Lead a section of electronics, electrical and mechanical engineers (10-15 personnel)

Build an engineering culture that empowers employees, establishes personal and team accountability, motivates team performance, encourages development, and supports innovation

Partner with technical and functional management to develop an approach that satisfies the staffing needs between programs.

Timecard approval, employee performance evaluations, facilitating employee growth, and special assignments in support of the functional homeroom

Ensure personnel and hardware safety, driving compliance with policies and procedures including security, property management, training, configuration control, and test conduct

Instruct, mentor and champion agile concepts and processes

Special assignments in support of the functional homeroom

The selected candidate should be a self-starter and thrive working in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, engaged in assignments across multiple engineering disciplines, within a collaborative/team setting on all levels of the organization.

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility.  Once established in role, the position could potentially offer a hybrid work environment. Scheduled telework days are approved at manager's discretion. This position requires the ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience 

Experience leading an engineering team or project

Extensive experience in RF architectures and networking engineering

Must have an Active in-scope, DoD Secret clearance

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance once in position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Active in-Scope, DoD Top Secret clearance.

Prior Functional Management Experience

Demonstrated success in leading, collaborating, and developing cross functional teams of varying degrees of skill on complex technical projects

Strong understanding of networking strategies including TCP/IP & WAN architectures.

Familiar with encryption methods and cross-domain integrations

Experience with the following:

            - RF and digital system design & analysis
            - Antenna theory and operation
            - COMMS Wideband and Narrowband integration and testing.  Iridium, INMARSAT, Ku, CDL and Starlink a plus.
            - Airborne platform radio integration such ARCs
            - System Performance Verification and Component Qualifications for Flight
            - System Engineering, Requirements Derivation
            - Design documentation:  E.g. Visio, Catia, interconnects and rack elevations    

Salary Range: $156,500.00 - $234,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
