Electronics Engineering Technician - Level II
**DESCRIPTION** We are looking for a talented **Electronics Engineering Technician - Level II** to join our team specializing in **Engineering** for our Cummins Inc. facility in **Fridley, MN** . **In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:** + **Enhancing Performance** : By performing routine analyses using Electronic Engineering tools and standard instruments, you will contribute to the overall performance and efficiency of the organization. + **Supporting Engineering and Quality** : Operating analytical instruments and performing physical analyses will support both production and non-production engineering, quality, and manufacturing groups. + **Data Interpretation and Reporting** : Acquiring, interpreting, and documenting data will ensure accurate and reliable results, which are crucial for decision-making and continuous improvement. + **Method Development** : Developing and documenting laboratory methods will standardize processes and improve the reliability of analyses. + **Equipment Maintenance** : Performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on instruments and equipment will ensure their optimal performance and longevity. + **Training and Mentorship** : Working with and training apprentices, trainees, and technicians will build a skilled and knowledgeable team. + **Cross-Functional Collaboration** : Interfacing with customers, suppliers, engineers, and other functions will foster collaboration and ensure alignment across different departments. + **Quality and Improvement Initiatives** : Participating in the maintenance of quality procedures, work instructions, and improvement projects will contribute to the organization's commitment to quality and continuous improvement. **RESPONSIBILITIES** **To be successful in this role you will need the following:** + **Attention to Detail** : Ensuring accurate sample preparation, equipment calibration, and adherence to standard procedures will result in trustworthy data for engineers and customers. + **Clear Communication** : Effectively organizing and presenting testing methods, instrument settings, and data in documentation will help engineers and customers understand results and make informed decisions. + **Problem-Solving Skills** : Using a structured approach to solve product problems, identify root causes, and implement robust solutions will protect customers and prevent issues from recurring. + **Software Engineering Expertise** : Applying industry best practices and robust software engineering principles in product software design and construction will ensure high-quality software updates. + **Decisiveness** : Making timely and well-informed decisions will keep the organization moving forward and maintain operational efficiency. **Education/Experience** + High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required. + Regionally applicable certification or two-year associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required. + This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. + Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience. **QUALIFICATIONS** **Additional Information** _Education:_ + Electronic, electronics STEM field education is required. _Core responsibility:_ + Follow guidance from experienced technicians in assembly, set up, troubleshooting, testing and documentation of test results for testing articles (genset, inverter, converter, sub-system, PE components etc.). + Lead the collection of prototype material. + Fabrication and build of prototypes (including test fixtures) and validation of engineering drawings. Provide feedback on assembly to engineers/stakeholders. + Perform routine testing and collect testing data per approved test plan, review data to ensure quality before submitting results. + Build complex harnesses, modify, or repair printed circuit boards (PCBs) with surface-mount devices to large power modules. + Follow correct safety procedures, especially for DC voltage up to 3000V and high current up to 1000A, i.e., tools, equipment, lifting, guards, and protective equipment. + Work safely and ensure the safety of others in the work area. _Key skill:_ + Intermediate technical experience in building and assembly of complex wiring harnesses, PCB soldering, creating test setups and instrumentation skills and knowledge. + Intermediate knowledge of diagnoses and test-cell problems, maintenance, and calibration of test equipment such as power supplies, digital scopes, and power analyzers. + Knowledge in basic electronics, understanding of inverters/converters, controls, cooling system, and enclosures. + Effective written and verbal communication skills (communicating to internal and external customers, peers, stakeholders, etc.). + Working experience in electronics industry electrical system setup and PCB-level electronics is preferred. + Troubleshooting skills in basic electronics and semiconductors. + Ability to independently build subsystems such as inverters/converters and controls. + Familiarity in using basic computer tools/software for development. + General fabrication skills such as cutting, grinding, welding, and basic machining is a plus. **Compensation (for United States)** Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range.
