Job Description Summary:
We are seeking an Electronic Hardware Design Engineer to join the Embedded Electronics group. As a member of the technical staff, the candidate will play a critical role in the development of next generation processing, computing and sensor/actuator hardware within the electronics division.Members of the Embedded Electronics group support a variety of multi-disciplinary programs lasting an average of 12 to 18 months each. In addition to working on sponsored programs, group members are also encouraged to develop and participate in internally funded research and development programs.
In addition, an Electronic Hardware Design Engineer develops, tests, and oversees the manufacturing of electrical printed circuit boards (PCBs), analog and digital circuits, electronic equipment, sensors, motors, radar and navigation systems. This engineer develops the architecture, designs circuit, performs simulations, performs physical layout, verifies and tests designs. Performs a variety of engineering activities throughout the life cycle to support planning, design, test, deployment, and sustainment.
The Tailored Systems Business Area within Electronics Program Office directorate delivers first-of-a-kind field-ready microelectronics solutions in support of National Security missions. This role will support a large multi-disciplinary team as part of a long-standing, fast-paced contract with history of immense success. Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities
• Translate project and system requirements into well-defined hardware architectures working with cross-functional teams.
• Design and/or complete instruments including microprocessors, power, and analog components.
• Innovatively solve issues, drive completion of the project to schedule, and collaboratively work with other technical contributors.
• Build and test prototypes, debug, and prepare documentation for manufacturing, and support.
• Research and enable innovative solutions for cutting-edge designs.
• Engage other engineers and partners to develop reliable, cost effective and solutions for products.
• Collaborate and communicate with management, internal, and development partners regarding design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
• Independently executes assignments with minimal oversight.
• Able to apply technical knowledge to solve problems.
• Contribute high quality content for technical reports and presentations with minimal guidance.
• Proactively identify needs and concerns associated with design decisions and communicate them to project leadership.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description:
Experience crafting sophisticated electronic systems using commercial off-the-shelf FGPAs, processors, or systems on a chip (SOCs).Start quickly on sophisticated PCB designs including digital electronics, sensor interfaces, and power distribution design with limited oversight and learning curve.The ability to program FPGAs and microcontrollers is expected only at a level required to understand the design of the supporting hardware.Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
