What is an Electronics Technician at SMT?
Electronics Technicians at SMT are key players for our traveling events teams, ensuring the reliability of deployed electronics as well as providing expert troubleshooting and support to our clients and internal teams.
As an Electronics Technician, you would be responsible for analyzing, repairing, testing, operating, and maintaining electronic equipment to support SMT operations. You would be entrusted with critical decisions regarding SMT electronic scoring components at events, with your actions having a direct impact on the success of the event and our organization. This role travels 120-140 days a year, working on-site at some of the biggest sporting events in the world!
What is Your Daily Impact at SMT?
Assisting with the setup of all electronic components for SMT scoring systems, ensuring appropriate tests are coordinated on all equipment, and performing such tests.Operating, repairing, and modifying electronic equipment components at event location.Providing electronic based technical support onsite at events, and via telephone to ongoing events.Providing preventative maintenance, repairs, and tests on SMT electronic equipment.Assisting with maintaining an organized work environment in the SMT Electronics Lab & SMT WarehouseProviding onsite technical support for third party equipment utilized by SMT at events.
What Do You Bring to SMT?
AA/AS Degree in Electronics or related field of study Previous experience with electronic equipment/testing/repair or similar hands-on repair/testing experience. Previous computer hardware and software knowledge helpful.Must be able to perform basic troubleshooting techniques. Using theory of operation of electronic components such as transistors, other solid-state components, integrated circuits, motors, servos, power supplies and other electrical devices utilizing various technical documentationMust be able to perform through hole and solder rework. Basic knowledge of electronics components and functions as well as basic use of test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscope, logic probes, etc.).Capable of interpreting electronic schematics and using them for trouble shooting.Previous computer hardware and software knowledge is helpfulThe ability to work: Independently and to solve problems using knowledge & experience. Under pressure in new and unique environments. Collaboratively with others across multiple teams. Availability to travel 35% to 50% to both domestic & international locations (typically between 120-150 days per year)An ability to obtain a passport, or other authorization into various worldwide locations.Pride in exhibiting professional appearance while onsite at client events.Fluency in foreign language(s) is helpful.
