State Classified HourlyNo Overtime Eligible Description of Work Unit Trades Maintenance Operations exists to support Facilities Management, Division of University Operations, and Colorado State University strategic plans. To provide, within the limit of its allocated resources, quality trades maintenance services, which includes all structural, mechanical, and electrical systems, and small construction project management. These services are to create and maintain an aesthetically pleasing and functional environment that meets or exceeds the university’s needs for instruction, research, and outreach. Position Summary This position exists to service and support automatic door openers, new construction locking hardware, blueprint take-offs, automatic gate openers, as well as assist other journey-level technicians in electronics systems of card access, intrusion and panic alarms, etc. Additionally, this position exists to provide assistance in the support of the Facilities Management Lock Shop with regard to locksmith duties using the master key systems on campus for both new construction and existing building maintenance. Position provides second and/or weekend shift support in regard to automated entry access systems. This includes repair and maintenance of the university’s automatic door entry systems and hard key lock services. Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience working with automatic door operators and electronic card access systems. Substitutions Preferred Qualifications + Directly related state service experience + Knowledge of construction project processes, hardware schedule development and locksmith techniques and the communication of such both verbally and in technical specifications. + Troubleshooting and repairing electronics equipment used for building access including automatic/electronic entry devices, building security, and physical access control devices. + Ability to interpret recommendations, code compliance and regulatory requirements. + Maintaining good tracking systems, processes, and recordkeeping Essential Job Duties Job Duty CategoryCard Access and Intrusion Alarm Systems Duty/Responsibility Assist senior electronics specialists with installing, maintaining and repairing card access field devices, cabling and hardware. Work to grow and understand basic electronics techniques. Learn and assist with computer software including the CCURE 9000 Administrative Station (software), ICU tools, Bosch RPS , laptop computer and troubleshooting tools. Aid in methods to make the existing card access platforms more reliable and cost effective. Participates in the migration process from legacy systems and devices to the online 9000 platform. Maintains current relevant ADA equipment under this position assignment. Provides maintenance support services for access door closures. Share and mentor other locksmith staff in all duties associated with the ADA door opener products. Maintain a supply of critical parts for ADA access, card access, and lock systems. Investigate new products for adaptability, reliability, price, and compatibility with existing equipment. Test and analyze new products and new concepts. Percentage Of Time50% Job Duty CategoryNew Construction Support and Mentorship Duty/Responsibility Support new construction while mentoring and training locksmith staff in the following existing methods and processes of new construction: Meet with project managers, contractors, customers, maintenance personnel, architects, engineers and other staff, to determine, develop and review drawings and hardware door schedules, review blueprints for new and remodel construction projects. Mentor other locksmiths to progress, develop and implement the compliance with university construction standards with new construction projects. Provide contractor support, monitor progress and provide assistance in regard to new and existing installations. Schedule hours and methods to provide least disruption of building occupants. Maintain records for consistency in the maintenance of existing equipment and documentation for the building files. Generate maintenance reports of system condition of records and future references. Provide installation services for campus client base. Including bid documentation, construction, test and verification, and warranty phases. Percentage Of Time10% Job Duty CategoryLock Smithing and Recordkeeping Duty/Responsibility Assist and provide back up to locksmiths for service, repair or replacement of faulty components in locking hardware, lock cylinders, exit devices, opening/closing devices, and any other lock systems and hardware. Diagnose and rectify malfunctions or system user errors within these hardware systems. Provide support services to all other locksmiths and other second shift trades employees as necessary. Develop, institute and keep accurate up-to-date records, matrices and reference manuals. Preserve and update maintenance files update blueprints. Generate reports for reference in regard to system condition: reliability.
