Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Elementary and Special Education at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#116180) in Special Education/Early Childhood Education at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025.

Key Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in early childhood and special education, and other related courses as needed. Model effective teaching practices. Advise undergraduate and/or graduate students, as needed. Provide service to the department, college, university, community, and profession. Maintain an active research and scholarship agenda. Required Education

A terminal degree in early childhood education, special education, or a closely related field with a specialization in early childhood or special education is required by the appointment date.

Required Related Experience

A combination of three (3) years of PK - 3 early childhood or special education teaching experience is required.

Other Desirables

Applicants with the following will receive special consideration.
• Teacher certification in early childhood education or special education.
• Experience in program management at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
• Experience teaching at the university level.
• Experience advising and supervising education majors or pre-service teachers.
• Evidence of or experience with teaching and developing online courses.
• Evidence of curriculum creation and management.
• Evidence of using data to make informed program decisions.
