Job Title: Eligibility Specialist
Project Name: GEMA Disaster Program
Job Summary:
We are seeking an Eligibility Specialist for a disaster recovery program for the state of Georgia. The successful candidate will provide crucial support to individuals and communities impacted by natural disasters. This position will provide technical guidance, strategic direction and management services during the implementation of case management services.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct intake period and assist applicants in completing their files for eligibility. Assist applicants throughout the eligibility process. Actively ensure quality case files and client interactions. Maintain applicant data for all programs, daily review and quality control of incoming data. Assist in determining applicant eligibility for the specific CDBG-DR program. Completing data entry, scanning/uploading or documentation, answering phones and maintaining communication logs. Produce and present weekly reports for client review. Prepare a written recommendation on the applications received. Coordinate with local agencies and non-profit groups for information use to verify case files. Act as a liaison between applicants and CDBG DR staff to assist in scheduling the required project inspections for compliance with program Duplication of Benefits (DOB) requirements. Review submitted applications for compliance with the program guidelines and policies. Conduct eligibility calculations and duplication of benefit reviews. Maintain final applicant folders and applicant data. Evaluate issues and work with the Eligibility Manager and develop proposed solutions. Maintain knowledge of federal grant programs in order to interact with clients (grantees and sub-grantees), federal agency representatives, peers, managers and project staff. Other duties, as assigned. 2+ years of eligibility review/case management experience. Experience in post-disaster grant and case management programs, including federally funded program management and administration. High attention to detail and experience with data tracking and monitoring. PC, Microsoft Office Suite knowledge required (specifically strong Excel skills). Ability to learn project-specific computer systems as needed (specifically SharePoint and proprietary computer systems). Individuals in this position are expected to maintain a professional demeanor, have strong analytical skills, excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to effectively interact with individuals from various cultures and backgrounds. Individuals in this position must also have the ability to work independently, as well as within teams of consultants.
Standard Schedule:
This is a temporary assignment
Monday to Friday
8am – 5pm (1 hour Lunch)
Work on the weekends may be required
Pay Rate: $22/hour
