Position Summary

Plug Power Inc. is actively seeking a highly motivated Engineering Co-op. The Co-op will be responsible for assisting the New Product Introduction & Process Engineering team in a wide variety of engineering initiatives and projects in support of the co-op’s academic studies. In this role, you will gain exposure to a fast-paced manufacturing and engineering environment which includes developing a detailed understanding of Plug Power’s products. The role will focus on the successful completion of technical projects, process improvement, documentation, and presentation of results at the end of the program.

Learning Objectives

The NPI / Process Engineering team will have a myriad of projects available for co-op support throughout the year.  As result, we are actively recruiting for resources seeking a full-time opportunity that aligns with your desired work block.  Projects will vary, and specific assignments will be aligned with each student’s engineering discipline.  Below are examples of potential projects:

Design of new / modified fixtures to support new product introductionsControls engineering support on new equipment acquisitions as well augmentations to existing equipmentConstruct Engineering Development Order Requests (EDORs) and track / analyze data to determine next stepsDevelop packaging solutions to protect incoming components as well as shipment of finished goodsAssess prototype designs for opportunities to improve DFA / DFM characteristicsSupport product launch / validation efforts via print reviews and metrology data analysis

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of all Plug Power productsWork with senior level engineers and management to interpret and analyze dataAssist in developing engineering processes with guidance from senior level engineers and managementMechanical aptitude and ability to sufficiently make minor repairs as necessaryAbility to independently set up experiments and monitor progressUnderstand engineering concepts and how to appropriately apply them in day to day projectsAbility to critically analyze data in terms of system performance and reliabilityRepresent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactionsPerform all other duties as assigned

Education and Qualification

Pursuing a Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or a related programPrior Internship or Co-op experience preferredMust have reliable transportation to the officeExcellent written and verbal communication skillsBackground/experience with statistical analysisPossess solid hands-on approach to problem-solvingComputer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OutlookAbility to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyDemonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detailExcellent follow-through Must be driven and self-motivatedMust possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work quality
