Embedded Software Engineer

Job Description

This position is responsible for the development of graphical user interfaces (GUI), instrument control software, firmware, and signal/image processing codes as part of multi-disciplinary engineering teams. The Software Engineer will serve as a go-to reference to guide the team in making successful decisions in architecting complex codebases, facilitating collaborative software development via GIT, bug tracking, and software deployment. Although based in the Baltimore/Washington DC area, occasional duties at other locations may be required.

Responsibilities include software support for developing advanced photonics and instrumentation products, serving as the primary developer for small projects, and collaborating with a team of programmers for larger projects. The role involves programming GUIs, GPU programming to accelerate math and signal processing calculations, and complex software architecture planning and implementation. The Software Engineer will also perform intermediate analytical and math calculations in support of real-time instrument control and signal processing software development, engage in system-level thinking and cross-disciplinary interactions, prepare regular reports and presentations on project status, and handle documentation and bug tracking. Production support may be required as needed.

This is a fully on-site position in Jessup, Maryland.

Work Environment

On site - but can potentially be hybrid 1-2 days.
