Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines overall system and user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met. Responsibilities + Design, develop, document, test, and debug software and systems. + Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and hardware engineers. + Plan, design, develop, and utilize electronic data processing systems. + Determine overall system and user needs. + Analyze system capabilities to resolve program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. + Prepare operating instructions. + Design and develop compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. + Ensure software standards are met. + Provide technical leadership for junior team members. Essential Skills + Proficient in C/C++ language. + Experience developing embedded software. + Experience designing, developing, integrating, verifying, and qualifying real-time embedded software. + Experience with software and systems engineering. + Experience leading and managing a technical team. + Active DoD Secret Clearance. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical degree. + Experience with low-level development. + Experience with VxWorks and RTOS. + Experience with Linux and embedded Linux. + Knowledge of Agile processes. + Experience with Command and Telemetry. + Familiarity with Atlassian Suite (Jira, BitBucket, etc). + Experience with SIMICS. Work Environment Supporting ESS and other related programs. The role involves working in a process-oriented environment utilizing waterfall, spiral, or agile processes. You will be part of a large team with talented engineers from various disciplines.
