Embedded Software Engineer
Job Title: Sr Embedded Software Engineer

Job Description

The Sr Embedded Software Engineer will be an integral part of our Electro Optical Infrared System (EOIS) Software Development Team. You will develop embedded software and PC tools, determine hardware compatibility, and ensure the completion of technical activities on time and within budget. Interaction with users to define system requirements and necessary modifications is also expected.

ResponsibilitiesSupport and participate in technical activitiesDesign, develop, analyze, document, and support testing of products, systems, or subsystemsUtilize computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in assignmentsWork independently and under supervisionProvide regular reporting of progress and statusComplete assigned tasks on time, meeting technical requirementsReview customer specifications and requirements, developing designs to best support them with cost as a key variableSupport program design to cost and design for manufacture requirementsDevelop prototypes to retire key development risks as directedCommunicate clearly with other personnel and customersSupport, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organizationPerform other duties as assignedEssential Skills8 to 15 years of real-time embedded software experience (5+ years for direct placement)Experience with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS)Linux and bare-metal implementation for embedded systemsExperience with embedded device drivers (TCP/IP, UART, I2C, PCIe)Solid understanding of multi-threading/multi-processing concepts and implementationsStrong development experience in C or C++ (minimum 3 years)Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering technical fieldAbility to obtain a Secret ClearanceAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience in initial hardware start-up and troubleshooting techniquesFamiliarity with oscilloscopes and logic analyzersStrong analytical and communication skillsCapable of integrating hardware and software and developing test plans and proceduresLead and direct the work of others as assignedExperience with modern software development processes, including software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, peer review, and agile development life cyclesExperience in Electro Optical Infrared SystemsExperience in ground vehicles and airborne platformsC# experience is a nice to haveADA experience is very helpfulVXworks experience is a plusWork Environment

This role follows a 9/80 work schedule. The team in Melbourne offers hybrid flexibility, with a requirement to be in the office at least 4 days a week. For the first 3-4 months, full-time onsite presence is required. Thereafter, there will be some flexibility based on the relationship and trust between the manager and team lead. The work environment is highly collaborative, with a lot of interaction with team members, lab work, and social activities such as happy hours. The culture promotes breaking rules when necessary to make customers happy, and the team is highly capable and supportive.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
