Job Description

The BSP and Driver Development Team seeks a skilled embedded software developer experienced in BSP and secure bootloaders. The candidate will work on various projects, including infotainment, connectivity, and other hardware modules in the next generation of vehicles.

ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement BSP/bootloader features as part of a larger team-based software projectDesign and implement secure boot featuresCreate software design documentsParticipate in design reviewsAssist with product verification and validation, troubleshooting, and testingCommunicate problems early to team members and offer solutionsDrive or participate in troubleshooting with multiple teams and vendorsWork in an Agile software development environment to deliver state-of-the-art software solutions for the next generation Gateway productDesign and implement platform software to support advanced application featuresDebug platform software and provide fixes as requiredBring up new embedded hardware modulesExtend existing software architecture for new feature requirementsWork closely with our vendors, hardware team, and other embedded software teams to resolve platform and firmware issuesEssential Skills5+ years of experience in Embedded Software Development (Ideally 10+ years)Embedded C expertise with experience developing at the device driver levelExcellent proven debugging experience on both hardware and firmwareGood communication skillsWillingness to work with new tools and adapt to new environmentsAdditional Skills & QualificationsAUTOSARAutomotive experienceCAN protocolsLinuxBootloaderExcellent problem-solving and intuitive debugging skillsExperience driving troubleshooting across multiple teams and vendorsProven C and assembly language experienceExperience completing at least two board bring-upsCapability of reading electronic schematicsKnowledge of embedded OS (Linux, QNX)Skilled in using debugging tools like JTAG and the oscilloscope/logic analyzerDriver development experience (UART, I2C, SPI, CAN/CAN FD, etc.)Detailed knowledge of ARM processors (A series, M series)Understanding of SHE (Secure Hardware Extension) specificationExperience with Hardware Security Module (HSM) or other SHE-based hardware security modulesUnderstanding of various cryptographic algorithms (RSA, DES, AES, SHA-1, etc.)Experience with eMMCExperience with NAND, NOR memory controllersDesigned and implemented custom bootloaderExperience with version control tools (e.g., SVN, Git)Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent field of study8+ years of experience in the design and development of BSP (Linux/QNX) and bootloadersWork Environment

You will be working on the technology going into the next generation of cars, including self-driving and electric vehicles. The work environment promises complex problems and intense on-the-job training. The role involves 70% debugging and 30% development. Candidates must be open to a role that is predominantly debugging. This position requires candidates to work onsite in Ottawa five days per week.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $65.00/hr.
