Embedded Software Engineer
Embedded Software Engineer (Direct Hire)

Parsippany, NJ - Hybrid position

Salary range: $110,000 - $130,000

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES 

•\tParticipate in the design, development, and debugging of firmware/software in an embedded environment. 

•\tPerform thorough reviews of requirements, design, and code artifacts. 

•\tFollow established software development processes and procedures, flow down as appropriate to design and/or development team. 

•\tCollaborate effectively with external groups and engineers from a variety of disciplines and businesses. 

•\tActively engage with and support test, quality assurance, and manufacturing engineers. 

•\tLearn, implement, and train others in new networking protocols and security requirements. 

•\tMaintain and improve the development infrastructure. 

•\tPromote environment of original thinking and creativity; Engage team to meet challenges with resourcefulness; Work with team to reinforce culture of continuous improvement and learning, support development of innovative approaches and ideas. 

•\tPromote engineering and development knowledge to make decisions; Exhibit sound and accurate judgment; Support and explain reasoning for decisions; Include appropriate stakeholders in decision-making process; Make timely decisions. 

•\tActive technical support to internal and external customers, lab enhancements, support business development activities as needed. 

•\tEnsures close communication with design, test, and manufacturing engineering during all phases of product design. 

•\tProvides regular updates to product/project management on initiatives re products, quality etc. 

•\tEnsures high quality service is delivered on time and within budget. 

•\tUnderstand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. Cooperate in safety programs, initiatives, and investigations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 

•\tProficient in programming and debugging skills, webpage development, microcontroller and microprocessor development environments, flash memory architectures, compilers and JTAG debuggers. 

•\tProficiency in electrical schematics review, electrical testing and troubleshooting. 

•\tStrong knowledge of core languages and technologies relevant to the position’s specific area of focus 

•\tHigh degree of professionalism and ability to work effectively with limited direction. 

•\tAbility to function in a deadline driven environment. 

•\tAbility to balance multiple responsibilities, meeting concurrent commitments to various stakeholders. 

•\tDevelopment and implementation experience with 

o\tC/C++/Embedded C, Python

o\tNetwork security protocols preferred (e.g. SSH, SSL/TLS). 

o\tCommunication protocols (e.g. RS485, I2C, SPI, USB, UART). 

o\tGIT version tracking and source code control 

o\tWebpage interface hosting on an embedded device 

o\tSoftware test methodologies and strategies 

Minimum Education and Experience Required: 

•\tBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other related field; or combination of relevant education and experience. 

•\t2+ years’ industry experience in embedded software design and development, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 


Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
